Scott's RCR40 Build

Finally...back to the GT40 build. I finished my one year rebuilding of my race car...total frame, body, and mechanical restoration. I just got accepted to the Monterey Historics Reunion. Attached is a picture with the body removed.

Progress on the GT40:
- hinged the front clip. It sure makes working on stuff easier since I don't have anyone to help move the clip. After trying to fit a 1/4" aluminum base plate to the compound curves of the fenderwell, I ended up fitting the base plate on the clip parallel to the chassis and filled the void between it and the fenderwell by pouring in stranded liquid fiberglass. Once set, I bolted the base plate to the fenderwell and mounted the sliding adjustment plate (up/down) to the base plate. A 1/2 inch bolt connects the adjustment plate to a 1/2 inch heim attached to the chassis which gives it the in/out adjustment. I test fit nylon shims to get the correct angles for the nuts to be straight, which will be replaced with aluminum shims.
- glassed in the headlight mounts and fit the headlights
- fabricated the radiator fan mounts.

It feels good to be back!
