Sean's RCR GT40 build

Hi, I figured I would start a thread for my GT40 build on this site. I ordered my kit from RCR last month and cant wait until it is delivered sometime Mid January.
I am excited to share this experience and hopefully get ideas/ suggestions from the group here on GT40s.com.

I am currently getting things set up in my garage to make the build go smooth. First was to get the other cars and unused tools gone (a few pics of what had to go below for fun).

Next was to build a simple hydraulic lift as I have seen others using. I looked at buying one, but couldn't find anything that checked all of the boxes I was looking for. I wanted it to be no more than 4" tall and capable of easily rolling around the floor if I need space for other small projects around the house.

More to come.....

My trans-axle was delivered last week. It is a Porsche G50/52, I was impressed at how nice it looked when it arrived. I plan to get a Billet side cover from CMS. I am not sure which way I plan to go on the back cover where the mount is. I saw in another post how to shorten it (link below), or CMS suggests changing the cover with the older style short one that incorporates a mounting location. I am open to suggestions or opinions on this. I will likely wait until the kit is delivered to see what can be done to support the back of the trans-axle properly.

Lift is looking and working great. Still need to put the dark blue stripes and maybe get some Gulf stickers for it. Just got to wait for the car to put on it now.

Yep. Sorry pre-morning coffee poor humor on my part. Not to take over the thread, I just liked the effort on the table . I saw a "Dow 7 like" finish in spray bomb form from one of the paint guys somewhere.

Got the lift completed. I’m happy with how it looks. (Even though I didn’t have room for proper sticker placement).

Today was exciting. The engine block got delivered. I went with Ford Racing’s aluminum 351W block. I have never had an engine block that could be picked up so easily. The 427 rotating assembly should be here tomorrow and then it’s off to the machine shop.

The flywheel and clutch Assembly from Kennedy won’t be here until late December, so I will need to wait a bit to get it balanced.

I couldn’t wait and had to bolt a few things together to see how it looks.

You will be glad that you opted for an aluminum block instead of cast iron. The difference in final car weight and CG location will be noticeable.

Yes, I thought about this for quite a bit. I figured the weight savings in such a light car would be very noticeable. I also decided that I wouldn't take any short cuts and make sure this car had everything I wanted in it.

Got to hear the engine fire up today..... Finally!! It sounds great even running at 1300rpm for break-in idle. It is scheduled for the full dyno run this Thursday. I will post a run video and some numbers once I have them.

I hope the videos work... first time trying to post them on this forum. If not, you should be able to click or paste the link.

Today was a fantastic day.... Made several dyno pulls with final numbers at 544 HP @5700 RPM and 556 ft lbs @4400 RPM. These are pretty much exactly the numbers I was hoping to get. We ran it up to just over 7K and I couldn't of asked it to be any smoother up there under load. Ill post the curve graphs later.

Unfortunately, it looks like this engine likes 98 octane... It wasn't happy on 91 even with 10.6:1 compression, oh well just a little more cost to drive it.

A little engine porn for your pleasure below.

This is from outside the building with idle speed lowered to 800 and a full dyno run
