SL-C Body attachments

Quick question, does the center of body sit on top of the aluminum plate? When the car was delivered to me it had the carbon side sills sandwiched between the body and the aluminum plate. There was only half the hardware installed so taking it apart it looks like the side sill should go on the bottom of the plate and the body on the top which leads me to believe that there should be some type of backing plate on the body to thread into?

Sorry, I am just trying to make sense of what I was given. I searched but couldn't find any info on this particular subject.

Ryan,

It goes as follows:
Body on top of Aluminum
Side skirt under aluminum

Allan explains this in post #8 from this thread…

Also it's important to mention that the front splitter gets a spacer installed underneath where it mounts in front of the radiator. I have seen lots of builders mention that they did not receiver the spacer with their kit.

Since the front nose rests on the splitter....without that spacer I have seen a few pictures of SL-Cs that have a nose down/incorrect (not parallel) gap at the sides behind the front wheels (where the body meets the hood).

This body alignment puzzle gets very confusing at times. Fran states that the body/spyder gets mounted below the chassis floor extensions. Allan does his builds with the body/spyder sitting on top of the floor extensions. No wonder the A-Piller covers don't fit very well.

My car had the pre-fit done in 2013 (back when it was offered) and the spyder was mounted on top of the extensions. Those floor extensions are 3/16" thick.

The splitter spacer was approx 1/2" thick. Many builders have claimed it was never included with their cars. Did the shape of the splitter change over the years.....I don't think so. I'm about to swap over to the track splitter. Do I still use the spacer Fran?

I have to be careful what I say on here. But anyways. This car I'm doing does not that have. I spent a good couple of weeks staring at this front end when I received the car pre-assembled and running from rcr.

I couldn't figure out which way to go to get the front end to line up, but I ended up cutting and sectioning the front end to get it to fit right. It was a ton of work but whatever...it's only my time.

I had no clue there was a spacer that was supposed to be there. I guess recieving a car built by rcr I would expect it. Unless that spacer thing came about after 2021ish.

What do you mean floor extensions? You mean the aluminum plate? The body on this one just sits on top.

The floor extensions (aluminum plates) are what the body sits on. My car was delivered in 2012/13...I forget now. The splitter spacer was installed on mine. This topic has been discussed in the past on here. Do a search on here using......."mounting SLC street splitter".

Rcr did the mechanical build and set the body on. I'm just the painter. I did the body fitment. Inner wheel well stuff, interior carbon work, stereo system install and wire, tons of body mods, doors shocks, rear clam shell shocks, rear wing modifications, plenty of wiring, and obviously paint. I'll make a YouTube video of the entire build once the customer picks it up.
