Bob - You might want to contact Fran over at RCR and maybe purchase a set of his headers (which are very nice by the way)...

If you'd like - I'll be visiting my car at the shop this weekend and can snap some specific pictures - but they headers are bolted up to the engine..

Might be some shots on my website that would work for you as well...

or

If you're ever in the Minneapolis area (actually about an hour south of there) - I'd be happy to show you what ever you need...

Bob,
Here are mine on a 351 Windsor

You will have to excuse the color difference on the last one. The butterflys were not set and very little air was getting to the right bank of cylinders, thus no heat and no "aging" of the stainless pipes.

Nothing beats this drawing from the original spare parts manual, to show how the exhaust is made:

Note that rather than a kluged-together assortment of various straight and bent bits of pipe, hacked and welded together, these pipes are sand-bent. Long, straight tubes are filled with sand, plates welded on the end (with holes drilled to allow heat to escape), then heated until they are cherry-red and carefully bent into shape.

The kluged-together exhausts may be more efficient, if they are designed to be equal-length etc. But the original-style exhausts have one great advantage--they're absolutely beautiful!

Gelscoe Motorsport is the only outfit I know of that builds a proper GT40 exhaust. Here's some images:

Even the hack-and-splice exhausts are extremely expensive, and no doubt quite labor-intensive to build; I'm filled with respect for any owner who chooses to tackle that job on his own! :stunned:

I can only imagine how much the proper sand-bent version costs!

But for me, there's no substitute for the real thing!

This is for the FE powered MKII & MKIV cars, but being colour coded help you follow where they go.
