ZF hp/torque

For all those curious:

In stock trim, both Mangustas (302W) and
Panteras (351C and 302W for last gen) put
out (with a few exceptions) 300-350 HP and
325-330 lbs/ft torque.

Various Pantera owners have had their ZFs
worked by RBT and Pantera Performance, and have
engines pushing well over 400 lbs/ft, some approaching
500+. I would say longevity at the 500+ level
is an issue, but these guys have bored their
351Cs to 377+, or, in the case of Hall Pantera
and others, popped a 460 in and reaching well
over 500 - Hall has one approaching 600!

Jim, I saw pictures of your Mark Iv. They look awesome. What size tires are you running on the car?

If you do much research on the ZFs in Panteras, you will no doubt find info on the one "must do" mod on the transaxle that is safety wiring the bolts on the ring gear if my memory serves right. So if you use a ZF make sure that is one of the things that is done. On the 25/2 transaxles, drain back holes will have to be drilled between the diff and main cases when inverted and ring gear flipped (to invert, I believe both 25/1 & 2 require the ring gear to be flipped to the other side and some later models may need to be machined to allow this.)

All I can say is that if a Renault can handle 300-350ftlbs of torque, I have no doubt that Lloyd can build a RBT or mod a ZF to take 500ft.lbs.
