A gentleman with a grasp of the problem.

Domtoni,

I find it funny that you would be quoting the appropriatly named Dick Morris:

The president consulted Morris in secret beginning in 1994.[2] Clinton's communications director George Stephanopoulos has said that "Over the course of the first nine months of 1995, no single person had more power over the president".[3] Morris went on to become campaign manager of Bill Clinton's successful 1996 bid for re-election to the office of President. His tenure on that campaign was cut short two months before the election, when it was revealed that he had allowed a prostitute to listen in on conversations with the President.

Dick Morris is a prostitute, he will adopt the politics of anyone who will give him a job.

Not only will Obama run, he will be re-elected.

Jim, you already called the Alinsky thing, and as expected, you are trying to discredit his opinion because of something that happened 15 years ago? Doesn't cut the mustard.

Doug,

As someone who ran a small business for 5 years had a very good accountant and became somewhat savvy in the tax break system I cannot argue against anything you have said.

During those 5 years I paid virtually no income tax and some corporation tax at 20% and did feel very guilty about the little tax I paid.

Did this guilt manifest itself in my giving more to those less fortunate, no it didn't I bought myself a GT40 with the money I saved. There again I am a hypocrite, and need a government to take my taxes from me as I am not going to volunteer the money to them.

Some super rich as individuals are very generous Bill Gates for example, maybe the super rich as a group are more philanthropic with their money than me, but I would not stake my life on it.

Two quotes I agree with:-

I am thankful for the taxes I pay because it means that I'm employed. ~Nancie J. Carmody

I like to pay taxes. With them I buy civilization. ~Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.

Or are people more generous when they know they have enough, and want to give the money to more worthwhile causes than helping the politicians out of a jam. I certainly would.

Jim, you could have read the same data with the same result. What would you have then said? It looks great for BHO?

Pretty slick Nick...avoiding paying taxes is an art that the Democrats are well rehearsed at....I'm sure there's a position on the Obama team with your name on it..

Domtoni, Dick Morris has done more to dicredit himself than I or anyone could ever do.

Among other things, he allowed a prostitue to listen in on his conversation with the President of the United States and you are not only defending this you are quoting him!

You concervatives have to really scrape the bottom of the barrel to find your leaders: Ann Coulter & Dick Morris, I think I am going to barf.

Don't fool yourself Jim, left or right they all come from the bottom of the barrel:)

In my opinion it's an art adopted by anyone who can get away with it irrespective of what party they support, the recent expenses scandal in the UK is evidence of that. It's not rocket science, they vote conservative because they believe they will pay less tax under a conservative government

Don't want to stereotype, but the majority of businessmen I knew / met where conservatives, maybe that is a British thing.

What position and pay do you have in mind with the Obama job, I'm interested, and when do I start.

Co-jobkiller

Jim, Nick...I've got the concept, here....you will, too, sooner if not later.

Craig is a  troll...:

Doug,

I am reserving judgement for the moment, I am not being obtuse, dim maybe, but I have no idea what co-jobkiller means.
Wikipedia describes a jobkiller as someone in power that creates an unfriendly environment in which to do business...including but not limited to high taxation and unnecessary regulations.....look it up

The troll in question here believes the POTUS, Barrack Obama, has implemented (or, at least, attempted to implement) practices that have intentionally resulted in job losses. He suggests you would be a great assistant in that endeavor....i.e., a "co"-jobkiller.

See what I mean? He is "...post[ing] inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion."

Who is fooling who, you are the only one who quotes these bottom of the barrel pundits!

And don't forget to throw in obscure names like Saul Alinsky just to muddle the discussion.

What, the crumbiest flakiest chocolate "Flake"? Tastes like chocolate never tasted before... Actually, forget it, it was an English advert after all.

Dear oh dear. Do we really give people like you the vote?

At least give me the same respect that I give you, ergo, do try to make a point whilst you sardonically try to put me down. Oh, and if you really, really try, you might get through a post without directly trying to insult someone... Go on, give it a try.

Actually, you might want to look up "sardonically".

When you have, then please make a positive input to this thread. Don't just post one liners, because it rightly or wrongly dumbs you down (along with some others one this forum).

Just a thought.

Oh, and Doug, vis a vis troll, I think you are spot on.

I will leave and let you guys splash in the mud alone.......but I did say "with all due respect"

Craig,

You now appear to be contradicting yourself, as you seem to describe Obama as a jobkiller,

Wikipedia describes a jobkiller as someone in power that creates an unfriendly environment in which to do business...including but not limited to high taxation and unnecessary regulations.....look it up

But then you seem to imply he is providing jobs

Pretty slick Nick...avoiding paying taxes is an art that the Democrats are well rehearsed at....I'm sure there's a position on the Obama team with your name on it..

Although to be fair I am still waiting for details from you of this promised job. :)

Craig,

I have no issue with you posting - hell, that's the point of the internet. It gives everyone the freedom to post their thoughts.

But please dont use the words "with all due respect", when you then go on to show no respect to the post in question.

It's like saying " I like blacks, some of my best friends are black", before you go on to tell a racist joke. It doesn't ring true.

Join the debate - have some fun with it too, but don't be a one liner and then duck out. There are too many that already do that in this world...

The super rich need to pay more taxes, but not small business because of the way they file their tax return. If we do that we lose jobs.

Al, that was an interesting snippet, and (i'm guessing) that the guy was (probably) a republican.

But this is a serious question Al, and it's one that I am asking you personally. Please don't reply if you feel that it is too intrusive:-

Given the complete fuckup by the banks and investment companies (who have now made more money in the last four years than they ever made before) and the fact that Wall Street, the Dow Jones and the FTSE are overly inflated by the same organisations that got us into this trouble, how would you get us out of it, taking into account all the poorest people and the most needy, including the middle classes.

Again Al, this is a question that I would be interested in hearing your answer to. Again, if you feel it too personal, then you can take a mulligan (I think that's the term), but if you are up to the challenge, I would hear your opinion.

regards,

Graham.

P.S. Al, there is NO sarcasm in this post at all, please read it as you see it.
