A couple of pictures showing latest progress.
My fuel inlets are being welded up today. These are not to the drawings as we thought that the original adhesive/sealant joint arrangement far less safer than good old hose connections (we won't need to inspect glue joints every time we go out !). The tops are also machined for locking caps.
The second shot shows the fit up between the front inner flitch panels to the bobbin roller and also their relationship to the brake duct vents in the clip and in a mock-up of the alloy side panel.
We wanted to get the fit accurate so the flitch panels will be bonded to the clip this week when everything pairs up nicely.

We did the fuel inlets in a similar way, with locking caps inside.
Jim, buy me a ticket and a sofa to sleep on and I will do your webbing, it's a miserable job.
The sheet metal work on your car is outstanding. the whole thing is outstanding, come to that.

James as always great work. I have a question about the air vent at the base of the windscreen. Is there a way of opening and closing it and how do you keep water running into the cabin? I would be very interested to see some detailed close up pictures of that area from both sides.
I've seen this vent on at least one MKII even though the scoop was removed from the bodywork. I'm assuming the car was a converted MKI but I'm not sure. Does anyone know if this is on all of the GT40s (MKI and MKII) even if it doesn't show on the external bodywork?

There is a damper inside the oblong vent which is operated via a lever which protrudes through the top of demister grille.
I am also fitting cable operated butterflies to the two side dash vent entries on the chassis. These are two Fomoco parts bin pieces.
There is also another cable operated iris vent on the bottom of the heater box.
Did you get your gear shift thingies ?

Won't be long now. I used the round lights in the lower recesses as well, they look a lot better.

Did your flasher switch fit OK Jim ?
They do look better in my opinion but they are a bugger to fit as there is not much fibreglass left after cutting the holes.

I've been following this thread with interest for years. I note there are lots of fantastic detail photos of the various bits and bobs that are going into the making of this car, but no photos of the PEOPLE involved, including you.
How about showing us the very most interesting and important components of this project? :thumbsup:
