F1 in 2013

A lot of people are saying that but I don't know much about the guy at all..

Saw him at an RAC Motoring Dinner at Pall Mall. He gave an after dinner talk, very unimpressed, constant snide remarks about drivers etc., all very unnecessary. He went down like a lead balloon.
Would not be surprised if he was a factor in Lewis leaving, or Jenson's current uncertainty.

Well, 9 out of 10 cats say that Whitmarsh & Button are joined at the hip and their respective fates will be similar.

Just read Wiki (thanks for the link flying Pete) and the guy is no intellectual slouch - head of Hawk and Harrier Airframe Production for BAE? That's serious stuff.

I may be inviting trouble but I've never met an engineer yet who was much good at handling people. Ron Dennis is another example, as is Frank Williams and Enzo Ferrari.

McLaren seem quite loyal to Whitmarsh but I would say that there have been so many team errors in the past few years, it beggars belief.

Whatever, there is something afoot and Jonathon Neale said "we're going to take the necessary decisions to get more competitive and that includes the driver line-up" just last week.

When HE sticks his oar in, you know something is going on. Last time this happened, Hamilton was out the door, although to me, that is no great loss frankly.

Do you think BAe might have opened the door and made some gestures ?
I worked at BAe Woodford as a Senior Engineer on the Nimrod AEW Mk3 project for three years and never heard his name mentioned anywhere.
Quite a few of the Engineers I knew in McClaren in Woking jumped ship citing him as a cause and are now in RBR IN Milton Keynes. (and winning as well - ho ho)

Mr McCluskey should be in the Long Bar in Raffles by about now. I know I would be.....

Raffles yes - it's a no-brainer but not a Singapore Sling @ £16 = ludicrous.

Anyway, apologies to FA fans for this.

Each time I see this I want to punch it.

Can't help myself.

What is wrong with me?

Jesus H. I mean Vettel is at least 1 second up on 3rd place man! Another RB walkover tomorrow? Who can stop them?

Pete McCluskey.

Vettel was booed by the crowd after the race, now I'm not a fan but I think booing is well out of order.
Also Webber cops a ten grid position for getting a lift from Alonso . WTF?

A driver catching/giving a lift like that would once have come under the heading of "sportsmanship". It was also a feel good moment for the spectators.
Obviously however, F1 is not a sport, it is a bureaucracy that is always looking for a way to insert itself.
How the real sportsmen that still manage to exist within it put up with it I don't know.

Re' the booing (I didn't watch past about lap 10 yet again) could they actually have been booing a politician on the platform at the time? I've seen that happen at other events.

Tim.

I´m with you on this.

However, if Vettel´s behaviour in Malaysia and aftermath doesn´t justify booing (which IMO it would), then Vettel´s Bling helmet design certainly does. Disco King.
