IVA interpretation about handbrake

Hello every body.
if i read well the IVA actual rules & regulations, it is permitted to install a SEPARATE working hydraulic handbrake system.

which means for me seperate oil feed with its own container, handbrake lever with rachet, mastercylinder and seperate dedicated brake calipers on rear(or front for that same matter).

exact or not?
opinions and comments are welkom

Paul,

I maybe wrong but as I understand it hydraulic handbrakes are not allowed for IVA they have to be mechanical. The reasoning being, if you lose hydraulic pressure, say a leak or something overnight, then the cars not going to roll down a hill.

Also, the only ones that appear man enough for the job are brembos.

This sheds some more light on the subject.

one easyer donor car for hanbrake calipers: Citroën C5 2003/2006models
front caliper integrated hand brakes on 282mmm /22mm ventilated discs
a nearly plug & play option!

i'm living in France and French & European rules and regulations stipulate that the emmergency brake has to be with a mechanical fonctional mecanism with cables , leaver or gear aplication.
which may be actuated manual or electrical and a lockable hold position.

this clear definition as mentionned above , i don't find in th IVA manual

but yes in my project Citroen C5 front brake calipers &discs.

Reading section 09C of the manual does not give that definition.

I would presume this is because at some point some cars had Hydraulic hand brakes and the manual would need to cover those too, as if someone reimport one of thes cars from outside the EU it would need to be inspected.

Just what I would read into he manual.

Thanks Ian for the time spend helping me out.

as i preparing th GT40 project here in the evenings after working hours on the job in Centrafrique Bangui, i try to understand what is wanted from me when the car is presented to IVA

As i presum getting the car regisered in UK will be for the moment the only way to use the car on French roads legaly.

i'l try to get the car (at least in theory!) ready for a one and only IVA, if IVA would be needed.

so other questions about intrepretations will come up from time to time

Rear Brake System

That is what I understand as well. Though looking at those pictures it would not pass IVA now as the brake lines are cable tied to the suspension arm.

Maybe worth considering looking at Wilwood's MC4 that they have now brought out
