Brian,

Those are great shots, thanks.

Looking at the first photo, I see that the roof vent and single, center pin for the rear clip looks exactly like P/2264.

Thank you Brian,

By the pictures you posted it looks like either the middle is plastic and the sides are metal? Silly question but do you know if they are and of what?

Pretty sure middle is plastic and sides are metal (happy to be corrected). Here is another original rear clip (1016).

Hi,

Here are a few more pictures of the vent on 1046 taken at the Festival of Speed this year. Sides are metal and glazing is Perspex of some description. Rough dimensions are width 250mm and height of vent at front 35mm. I did not measure the depth.

Also a couple of pictures of the vent on my car which is also metal/Perspex, dimensions were scaled off of lots of pictures and it is almost right except it is 50mm high.

Regards

Dave

on some of the early ones I have seen It is "clear" Plexiglas both top and sides. It appears about 1/4 inch thick to withstand the air velocity at maximum speeds . The early IMC & Testors model kits represented this correctly on the MKII kits back then. The photo's above appeared before I finished typing this. and I do remember seeing these at the 2011 Kirkland GT40 event.

Thank you everyone for your replies. The above pics help out immensely. I'm going to try and duplicate the scoop during the winter.

Re: 1966 historical photo\'s

Hi every body !

I discover this picture N°3 and this one has been taken on Peugeot Garage in june 1966, and the guy on the left lokking those MK II is me !!!

In fact, the owner of the garage was my father who hired the half of the garage in 66 and also in 67. This garage built in 65 and in suburb of Le Mans, was the first big one in the area of Le Mans and that' s why Ford was intersting to be here to prepare the 24 hours.

65 was the the first year he welcomed the FORD team, but in his garage located downtown of Le Mans (Rue Nationale) garage much more smaller and only with 2 levels; so FORD occupied the upper level.

Unfortunately, my father lost all pictures he tooks during those years .... I found pictures of the garage - above all for 1966 - in many books about FORD / SHELBY / 24 Hours of Le Mans etc...so I bought all tose books ! But, if someone gets own pictures about FORD in Le Mans and specially during their preparation in 65 - 66 and 67, I will be very happy and I thank you in advance.
NB : sorry for my poor English .....

Wow, that's great! Thanks so much for sharing your story!

Do you know if the garage is still there? Can you give us the address? I'm sure people would be interested in going and visiting it today, if they knew where it was? Thanks!

In reference to 1964, the GT40s were entered by Ford Advanced Vehicles and managed by John Wyer. Wyer had used the Hotel de France as his base of operations when he managed the Aston Martins and returned there in 1964 for both the April trials and the June race and later in 1968 and 1969 when he managed the Gulf GT40s. He also used the Hotel de France for FAV entered GT40s in 1965, 1966, and 1967 GT40 based Mirages.
