Even if I am italiano and so also European (even if we all knwow Europe doesnt really exist today)..and even if I have to listen to the terrible bullshits from F1,as to call Mark Webber as the new Nigel Mansell (OMFG...please no..this is blasphemy), I still think the REAL racing is outside old Europe, mostly in USA and Australia.

Let's have a look at this race in laguna seca...this is real driving! too cool.:thumbsup:

I saw this a few months back. I believe that both drivers were not allowed to drive for the next event or two. I also understand that the corvette was a new ZR1 for this race. Well, rubbin' is racin.

Very enjoyable clip. And, why would the broadcasters go to the prototype cars when this was going on? I understand to show the finish of the race, but they did it a couple of times.

I agree. Both drivers were banned for the next race. I think that the wall certainly was a bit much. It did make good racing before the final incident.

I guess you can push Dirk Werner only so much.

The Corvette driver gave the Porsche a pretty hard bump in the last corner, while that would piss me off, it did not look too bad. The Corvette then had the power to get by the Porsche but was slammed into the wall, poor form. I think the Porsche driver deserved greater punishment; someone could have really gotten hurt. Rubbing is one thing, force-ably blocking and pinning a car into the wall is another.

That was the last race of the season, and I don't believe either driver was suspended.

To take what happened into context, the porsche had been man-handled in an earlier race in a similar situation by the corvette team. This was merely a little bit of "pay-back" and "not this time". As I recall, the drivers involved are actually on pretty good terms.

That said, ALMS is way more fun to watch than F1, and I do get up at 4:30 am to watch the F1 races. Was even at the 2005 debacle in Indy.

Finally, Laguna Seca rocks!! There are ownly two tracks I like better...Le Mans and Spa.

Please don't construe my comments such that I did not enjoy it, great racing and way more fun than anything else on TV. I wish we could get rid of NASCAR and have ALMS all the time, so much more to watch.

I agree with Laguna Seca as a great track, did a racing school there with Skip Barber. The corkscrew is unbelievable

I'm not sure if you took it this way or not, but I was actually just commenting on the situation in general. Not really commenting on anything you or anyone else said in particular.

I do love watching ALMS, and tape every race. In the instance in question, there just was a little history behind the encounter that everbody probably wasn't aware of. It did look out of line (and probably was), but sometime drivers feel they have to "send a message."

Kind of like a pitcher throwing at an opposing batter in defense of a previously hit batsman from his own team.

It just adds "color" I guess.

sure, its uncorrect to end a race that way, but is surely too cool to see it from outside.
Think people love too much these fights!

The american circuits are too nice ones, old style, very very fast...where u have to proof the weight of your balls.
It seems to me as the old Silverstone of the 60's...airfields and too fast turns.Real motorsport should be only in this places.
ALMS is too cool.
