I'm struggling with how often to post, but the assembly is going really fast, so here are some more pictures.

Radiator, Fans, wiring harness, rear sub-frame, pedal box, gear shifter are all in since last Thursday.

Now if my painter and engine builder were moving that fast....

Hi Ron, I'm building chassis #172, Mine is coming back from the paint shop today so a very exciting time. One thing that I found with the front mount Aircon radiator is that there is no room between the top of the water radiator and the body for the aircon pipes to fit. It was necessary to sink the pipes into the water radiator to gain clearance.
I think your car will be finished before mine at the rate of progress you are making.

My engine builder sent me these pictures. I have a question, which is what do the computer readouts mean?

Thanks,

Ron

I would suggest that this is showing the result of the crank being balanced.

I think what you seeing is what is called the residual imbalance.

As it is near on impossible to get as perfect balance and balancing is normally done to a standard there is normally some residual imbalance left. The balance is probably to G6.1

What you are seeing is: on the flywheel end a residual of 0.37gm @ 278 deg and nose end 0.11gm @ 134 deg

That is my take.

A few more pics from Johann's shop and a bonus pic from my painter.

Special thanks to Ian at CAV Canada for some timely paint codes. Apologies for the frantic calls.

Took a bunch of photos of the location for the surge tank. Will post pics of that once constructed.

Regards,

Ron

"Bomber" Light

Got these goodies in the mail today. Unopened in the original box. Look good, but the last 50-60 years has been a bit hard on the rubber.

Seems to take a standard bulb size. Anyone know what watt bulb would have been in this thing originally?

Also, any leads on the front ID light would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Ron

Hi Ron

wonder how the emergency brake caliper is mounted. Usually this is a floating caliper with a single sided pressure action, so the caliper needs to float to apply equal pressure on both sides.

TOM

I went by the shop today to deliver the body parts from the painter. I didn't have my camera but the set up is a disk pad on one side and a flex plate on the other w/ .5mm clearance.

Ron, looking great there.

Your rear rubber looks a little skinny. You sure you don't want something a little a little more manly?

Well I just couldn't let myself have Lamborghini envy down at the local watering hole. We tried to make a set of water filled tractor tires fit, but couldn't get them in the wheel wells ;-)

Actually, the rear wheels are 17" X 12". Nothing like a 335/35 to put a grin on your face. Definitely a set of "meats" on the back.

I got the body parts (painted) over to the shop yesterday. It didn't take Eddie and Johann long to make it look like a car.

Ian,
They were a perfect match. I really like that dark blue. Moves from a dark blue to black based on angle and lighting.

Some more pictures of the progress based on today's shop visit.

yes this is the standard wilwood e brake caliper. In order for the fixed pad to put pressure on the disc the caliper needs to slide ( actuated by the pressure of the flexplate, where the cable lever is acting on), If the caliperis fixed (not floating) only the pressure of the flex plate will be applied and will try to "push" the disc towards the fixed plate, so actually trying to bend the disc, which this small caliper wont manage.

So if this caliper is not mounted floating ( what it doesn´t look like on your pics) it won´t work a lot

Fuel System is Ready to go in...

I didn't think EFI mean't so much.

Couple of things were important to me.

1. I wanted to keep the manually switchable tanks
2. I wanted external vertically mounted pumps
3. I wanted a surge/swirl tank approach

This is laid out much the way it'll be installed.

I'll post installed pics when complete.

Regards,

Ron

Ron,

You asked about front marker lights. I used the Lucas 691 as they are period correct. They don't do green anymore, however, there is a clear lens available. I painted mine with translucent glass paint. Came up a treat.
Not sure where you can source them in the U.S. but in the U.K you can get them off the shelf if you know where to look.

Cheers,
Martin
