Few more pics from today.

A special thanks to Eddie who came over from South Africa to build the car. Safe travels.

Regards,

Ron

Hi Ron

Looking fantastic. CAV sure make a beautiful car. Could you post the rear wheel and tire dimensions please. They look a little bit wider than 10.5 inch rims seen on a lot of 40s. Im just curious as Im making my own rear guards at the moment and Im modeling them on a picture of a CAV.

Thanks.

The wheels are 17" X 12" on the rear and 17" X 8.5" on the front.
The tires are 335/35 ZR17 rear and 245/45 ZR17 front. Michelin PS2's.

Thanks, the car is gorgeous. Eddie and Johann are real pros on the assembly. They make it look easy.

Learned the transmission shipped today. Hopefully motor will ship mid week.

Very cool! Looking forward to seeing in in a couple of weeks as I should have the T70 back on the road and want to visit the shop.

Ron,
Could not believe my eyes to see Eddie over helping you, he helped me when I lived in the Cape.
I guess he shaped the windows with his eyes shut eh! Probably paid him in fishing tackle, I'm sure.
Good job!

Let me know when you plan to come by as I'd love to meet you. I literally live 5min from Johann's shop.

Are there any local clubs? Drive ins to the Chargrill etc.

Been a bit as I'm still waiting on the motor and transmission. Transmission is "in the mail" and the motor is done and supposed to ship on Tuesday.

A few pics from the painter where it is being striped. I'm having him make some modifications:

1. Bomber identification light
2. Lucas L488 turn signals as on 1076
3. Trimming the flanges off the front mouth and boot cover
4. Extending the overhang on the front boot cover to more closely match 1076

Regards,

Ron

RE: the bomber lights...do you have two? Please correct me, but don't you just need one for the right rear quarter?

If so, I've gotta find another red one, and then figure out where to put it. :D

I do have two, but I'm only mounting one. I'm actually putting it and the roundel on the drivers side (Daytona style). Since the car is LH drive I figured I'd reverse the graphics. Both are green though.

Couple of pics from the engine builder (shipped today). It was "run in" with a Holley and MSD, though it'll get an injection system here.

Regards,

Ron

Ron, those look similar to what we installed in my car. Mine came from a guy in Beirut named Rafi Selian. They are proper size and shape, more or less, for the 1969 race look of 1075 and similar, with the large round driving lights. The difficulty being, of course, that there isn't any room for anything else down there.

Candlepower, Inc, in Rockville, MD have p45t bulbs, I think they are called, for those lamps and the old rectangular SEV Marchal headlamps, by the way.

Thanks Jim! I believe that guy has a set on bay now. These were from Daniel Stern Lighting. I'll check out the bulbs you suggested.

Best,

Ron

Picked the car up from the painter today. Just installation of the motor and tranny, niggly items and sorting left.

Visited the shop today. Motor is temporarily in to allow plumbing of the fuel system.

Thanks Jim,

Fuel system is complicated. I bought a bunch of really nice tricky bits that I'd like to show off w/o it becoming a rats nest.

Also going to ceramic coat the header pipes black and we'll need to fabricate some sort of head shield as the fuel rails have to be plumbed on the bundle of snakes side.
