Bedding in your brakes....

If you're like me, you change your pads whenever it's appropriate ie. they're worn out, you try to bed the brakes in properly, but occasionally end up with squeaky brakes. Really pretty annoying. Frankly, the exact technical details around what's actually going on in the bedding procedure have never really been that clear to me. Or at least maybe I thought I knew what was going on, but wasn't quite sure.

Here's a really good vid I found posted by a reputable source (AP Racing) that is really informative and helpful. It long, but worth watching.

Good info, thanks Cliff.

This may be a stupid question but do ceramic composite brakes need bedding?

I've had ceramic brakes on my 911 for four years, and they do squeal, but only occasionally. The guy at my dealership said that it will never change as it's part of their nature.

I don't know if thats true or not....but I hope it helps.

Cheers,

Graham.

Squeal in ceramics happens most when they are cold, depends on the type of pad compound you use also. I.E. a racing (hard compound) will tend to squeal more than a normal or softer compound.
