bent G50 diff sideplate

managed to bend the diff sideplate on my G50-03 has anybody else had this issue? The engine produces 520lb 500bhp seldom use 1st gear and try to be careful putting the power down quaife lsd fitted. Does anybody in the UK supply an upgraded plate?

This is a known weak point on the g50 if you are going of 500hp and into releasing the beans abruptly:). There are a few G50 specialists making the hd side covers. Powerhaus used to do them. I had a billet one made but because it is thicker we had to change the studs.

Bobs billet Al. side plate is the go -- however, in your case you might need a billet STEEL side plate:laugh:
 
Just a thought here, a rushed downshift, or using the trans instead of brakes or 'wrongslot' ie 2nd instead of 4th on downshift will also inflict huge loads on the sideplate, you only have to do it once.:)
 
Thanks for the feedback guys, Chris I am not that heavy footed!!! Did not miss a shift or select a wrong gear before problem occurred, I had looked at the side plates but had not actually heard of anybody bending the original even with more power/torque in Ultimas, Gt40s etc.
Bob is checking to see if he can get another plate made otherwise off to California Motorsport although I will get stung a little on VAT/import duty.

Invest in the billet sideplate! Here are some photos of what can happen (LS7 powered example I found on the web)

SOME DEBRIS(BROKEN NEEDLE BEARING OR THE LIKE)CAN HAVE THE SAME EFECT.THE CASING IS SPLIT.THE REASON COULD BE SOME DEBRIS BETWEEN RING AND PIGNON.IF THE SIDEPLATE CAN WITHSTAND THIS FORCE SOMETHING ELSE HAS TO BREAK.:furious:
