Really interesting reading this thread. Its certainly a very different way to do a CF mono than we would have done in F1, and different to any techniques i've read about. its really nice to see how someone from a different industry tackles something like this.
Haven't totally got my head around how its being done and whether i can fully appreciate the advantages and disadvantages of it yet. But two things impress me, that you actaully bothered to tackle such a project and the apparent speed in which you are getting into it. Some of the techniques, if they work reliably, would be very welcome in the Automotive industry.
We did something similar a few years back on a Porsche 964, and it required a New York financier with 100's of millions of dollars in his bank account to finance it and 3 designers atleast 2 years to do the design work. I believe the programme is still going, including a carbon gearbox and torque convertor. I remember the design costs for the rear swinging arm was £46,000 alone, and the total cost of the tools and parts came to another £75,000 just for those parts.
