Carlisle Import Kit / Replicar Nationals

So...anyone planning on bringing their GT-40? I'll be picking up my kit there and taking plenty of pictures of any other GT-40 replicas.

I plan to be there with the blue GT40. Looking forward to seeing your Pantera as I am a Pantera owner myself. Hope we have a large turnout for this event.

I will be going as well, but without my Pantera. Not sure I feel secure doing an 18 hour round trip in it just yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing you guys and your cars. I hope some others will be bringing their GT40s. Fran?

There are always lots and lots (and lots) of Cobras
at Carlisle...but VERY FEW GT40s. For several years
only ERA attended...and NO OWNER GT40s typically show.

Recently CAV made an appearance...and Hersh was there last year...not sure about this year.

IMHO GT40 replica owners don't see their cars as "kits".
So they don't come to this show. I've seen more GT40s
at the Fords at Carlisle show (this year June 3,4,5),
and at the few SAAC meets I've attended.

So be fore warned....GT40s are a RARE SIGHT !

I expect to have it at Fran's display at Carlisle.
It will only be a roller...completion won't be until next year. The GT40 has top priority.

I'm bringing the black monster to be on display with the factory ERA cars. I've also entered the excellence contest to see how I stack up with the rest of the best. I'm excited.

Please stop by the ERA exhibit and say Hi.

Mark

I plan on attending the show on Friday and Saturday. My RF GT40 however will be in Sedona. Looking forward to meeting any Forum members there and seeing the new Superperformance GT40.

I am a bit envious of you guys on the east side getting to go to Carlisle /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

From what I gather, Carlisle is the SEMA Show version of Kit Manufacturers. Is there an event, other than Knott's Berry Farm, that show cases kit manufacturers here on the West Coast?

Worth a trip. On Friday, I saw: ERA MK I, ERA MK II (really nice build Chuck), Superformance MK II (WOW), RF MK I, RCR MK I (raw), and that was just in an hour. There may be more lurking about, but enough GT40's to make the trip worth it – especially if you're close by. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I could only attend Friday, and as usual...it rained.
But that didn't dampen the enthusiasm of those I met.

Fran brought quite a collection. Most people recognized
the GT40 bodies...a few recognized the Lola...I didn't
meet anyone who recognized the MK IV.

Fran is the gentleman (?) in the middle.

Fran is going to update his website...which I'm sure
will show his chassis in detail. In person I found
it very, very nice. It's great to have choices !

If you like the Ultima....but can't afford it...check out the FFR GTM. I liked it a lot better in person than
from previous photos. I'm pretty sure it uses a GT40
windshield. If Shelby hadn't sued FFR, this probably
would have been a GT40 replica.

Last one....it's interesting to compare the proportions
of the various sports racers side by side.

Looks like Fran had some nice stuff there, that is fantastic. I wish he could have had a finished car, but I don't know how he gets the stuff he has done finished, he must have a time machine around the shop somewhere!

Agreed...a finished car is the final proof of concept.
Looking forward to see the Harveys (Mike and his Dad)
build up their car on a website.
