Heads up for Dave M, Keith, and any other plane buffs in the UK,

I see there is a series "Classic British Aircraft" on Discovery Turbo channel; Meteor, Vampire, Sea Vixen, Buccaneer, Victor, etc great footage and aircrew interviews. well worth a view.

I may be wrong here and I'm sure someone will let me know, but here goes.

The GT40 has always been considered to be an American car, with the design ordered by a US company (Ford), even though they were designed and built in Brittan and they did use an American engine.

By that formula you could say that the P-51 Mustang was a British aircraft!

Although they were designed and built in America, the design was ordered by the Brits and ultimately used a British engine.

I know this is blasphemy, I'm just saying.....

Keith,
you're in good company down there in the new forest. My pal's father in law has a house there somewhere. He was a Buccaneer and then Lightning pilot, I believe he ditched one of each and lives to tell the tale. His own father was a spitfire pilot, so plenty of stories here.

The Hunter all variants and the Victor B1 really float my boat, though I guess I spent so long in Maritime that the Shackleton Mk2 phase 3 and then the Nimrod MR1 and MR2
were the ultimates. Nimrods occupied 23 years of it.

I saw a movie last night that I've not seen is perhaps 40 years call "The Sound Barrier". It was awesome (though not as influencial now as it was when I was a kid) and one of those movies in my youth that really got me interested in experimental flight (which in the 50's and 60's was pretty neat stuff). Go "Prometheus"!
