Even more pics of the SPF-40

Hello all... haven't been back to this forum in a while...good to be back! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Pat Buckley suggested I post my pics here, taken at Carlisle on 5/21.

If anyone in the NY area wants to see the car first hand, it will be at the SPF dealer on Long Island (Snakepit Automotive) in Freeport NY, after the weekend.

Lots of pretty pictures, but it wasn't until I was almost done looking at them, that I realized the car has no engine.

I notice on the shape of the front clip, low and forward of the wheel, that the form drops vertically. Where as on my MkI, and others, the shape is rounded and rolls under the car.

Is this a MkII trait or is SPF adding this subtle change? (or do my eyes deceive me?)

Hey Ron,
Thanks for the great photos. They are really good as you can see what this car is really built like. All things considered it's a great rendition of the real deal.

The Mark I and II have different front designs. The Mark II front has more pronounced arches over the front wheels and dives down lower in the front. The Mark I front is flatter and sits higher. IMO, the Mark II front looks 'prettier' for lack of a better word.

Johan, our eyes may be ok after all. I surely had never notice that difference in the two front designs. Thanks Jon.

Hello,
The noise of the car seems to be a MKIIB but not with the widder radiator intake.
Strange to me ...
All the best

Correct, it is a "B" nose.

Although this is by far the most correct mass produced (or soon to be) replica ever, there are still many many things that are not as original.

Just at a glance:

1 seats
2 steering rack
3 battery location
4 dash
5 nose
6 rear center cooling duct
7 brakes
8 fog and parking lights
9 rear subframe
10 oil tank (or A/C cover)
11 Fuel bladder rear access cuttouts (under oil coolers)
12 driver position
13 wiring
14 that blasted A/C!
15 windshield demister (MKII did not have)

Overall, there is far more right than there is wrong though.

Sorry, it is an MKIIB nose made to look like a MKIIA. This is a MKIIA, see the difference?

Adam,
I see you've been to the Indy Museum too. Four years ago when I was there I got to sit in that very car. A friend who is a security guard let me. After hours of course.

Adam, thanks and yes I do see how it is a hybrid of the two. I was focusing on the rad opening and missed the "flares" leading back to the front of the wheel openings. I personally like the job they did with it.
