F1 in 2011

Grady,

+1 on the rain!! My extra jeans and tennis shoes weren't dry by Monday PM. We stuck it out in the bleachers for the delay. Our umbrellas even soaked through! For once, the Ferrari challenge guys were willing to go toe to toe with each other. The IMSA Porsche GT3's were also fun to watch. I thought both Sauber Mercedes were set up pretty well and I expected Nico to be in the running. But, he got caught up in traffic and ran out of time.

+1 on the city.

It was a great race. I was able to see the whole thing when replayed on Tuesday. I have learned not to check in until after I have seen the race. A totally splendid drive by Button. It certainly didn't hurt Vettel in the points though.

You guys are really twisting the knife. My recording quit during the red flag(up until that rain, it was exciting), then I missed Speed's recasting...of what appears to be the best race of the year.

I almost forgot to watch this race, got around to it tonight....JB was BRILLIANT. What an excellent race....I was on the edge of my seat from the last restart, fantastic.

I confess - I was imbibing in the Audi hospitality and though the race was on the big screens in there, everyone was nine parts cut and very few were really paying any attention to it. I think most assumed Vettel had run away with it. Some one told me three more P1s and vettel only needs p3 for the rest of the season. Very compicated to digest and more difficult to verify the facts at the time, and I'm suprised I managed to recall it just now.

Terry, you can download all F1 and most car races around the world from this site. You can join by invitation only unfortunately. Maybe someone on the forum
has a spare invite they can send you. If anyone has two please send me one as well.

Rumours are that with a 154 point deficit Ferrari are about to limit their efforts for the 2011 season. Expect the 2012 development car to be running at Maranello by mid to late September. Also expect some announcements about Massa by then as well.
Also some discussion in Italian press about Pat Symonds leaving Nick Worths company and joining the Ferrari team as well but I haven't heard that on good authority yet.

I really hope they give Massa his last year, good equipment and let him actually race.

This is a guy who won 6 races in a year. Cat can still drive I think, just needs his confidence back.

Jeff, I'm with you on that one :)

This somewhat proves that you can have a run-away season dominated by a single driver or team, and still have F1 racing that keeps you awake. The tire variable seems to be the key to this year's popularity. I hope Pirelli never get the tires "right".

I agree, Massa is a terrific driver, but number two is number two, especially at Ferrari.
One of the problems I perceive with the limited testing rule is that the concentration, priority and new mods are given to the number one.

Jeff, Pete,

I agree, Masa has always been fast. No one was pulling harder for him than Frances and I back in 2009.

That said, I fear that Felipe is just too nice a guy to win the Champianship. With a few notable exceptions (Button, Damin Hill & Mika), nice, quiet guys just do not become Champion.

Spanish team HRT have bought time on the Mercedes wind tunnel and are about to start running their 2012 car. What a wonderful snippet that was. Sort of a bit like watching Dulux emulsion paint drying but I thought you should know.....
