G50/50 pricing?

Guys,

Am beginning the search for a good 1989 G50/50 transaxle.

Have only two price points so far ... both from vendors that I'd describe as probably being the high end ($3600 to $4200).

Can you all please give me a sense of what these things should reasonably cost?

Any advantage in importing one?

Keep looking. I've seen G50s w/o LSD for $1800-$2000 on our local Porsche club classifieds. Problem is, you have to be on the ball as they sell very quickly. One fellow had a G50/52 w/ LSD, rebuilt for $3k.

Because 1) the rear structure of the chassis is set up for it, and 2) ZF's are much more expensive here that are G50/50's!!

Good trade off between strength and cost.

Why not a ZF DS25/2.

Mike, when I was researching they were all within $2-300 either side of $2000 depending. You should be able to find a G50 from a Porsche wrecker between $1800-2000 and the G50/50 on the upper side of that. Usually these will be as-is, but you can run up on one that has been gone through or at least maybe an LSD put in it. (I will check radiator mount for you this evening.)
