GT40 build – sourcing Porsche G50 / equivalent heavy-duty transaxle (V8 application)

I am in the UK and looking for a transaxle for a GT40 replica build my son is doing in Australia.

The application is a mid-mounted V8 (high torque), and the requirements are:
  • Must be suitable for ~500+ hp / high torque V8 use
  • Limited slip differential required (factory or uprated)
  • Strong preference for Porsche G50 family, ideally G50/52
  • Alternatives considered: Audi 01E or Graziano V10 transaxle if appropriate
  • Road + occasional track use (not full race sequential required)
  • Reliability and parts availability are important considerations
  • Will consider rebuilt, exchange, or core units
We are aware that:
  • ZF units are now rare and prohibitively expensive
  • G50/52 is preferred due to strength and LSD availability
  • Graziano and Audi R8 units are alternatives but require adaptation
  • Spares for Graziano in Australia are limited so this may be an issue
While the g50 is the preference, a g86 or g96 may also be fine

  • Or can recommend a builder with stock

Go with the G50. One of our NW guys has had one behind his 428ci stroked Windsor 351 with 500 ft.lbs torque for over 20 years and been fine. A few clutches gone but no issues with the G50.

Hi robin also es ist so : da reicht ein g50/00 oder 03 das 52 ist nur teuer meine lola hat einen chevy motor 6.1 cci mit 580 ps ich habe ein g50 /00 mit nachgegüsten sperre eingebaut du brauchst dafür eine adapterplatte und eine verstärkte andruckplatte stage 2 von kennedy und es gibt eine dickere kupplungsscheibe von sachs mein motor hat 680 nm das audi getriebe ist nicht geeignet für euer vorhaben leider gibt es keinen verkürzten 1 gang bei der übersetzung für das getriebe
