By the lines the 997 driver is taking I think he'd have a hard time driving a soapy stick up a dogs arse. That 997 should've out handled both those cars on braking alone.

Yeah still the driver makes a lot of difference. But also technicalwise why should the 997 be superior to Ians car.
Brakes are basically the same ( look at his build log, he is using P Brakes).
Power to weight ratio should be better on the GT40.
Suspension geometry and lower point of gravity should also be a plus for the GT40.
Everything else is just supportive systems ( like ABS) which can be scoped by a good driver.

From my recent experience on b grade back country roads, my GT40 handles better is much easier to drive fast than a 996 GT3 RS.

Still have to proof it, but under same conditions ( same tires, no sequential box, equal level driver) i do not fear to be beaten by one of this "modern" cars.
