Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars

re: Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars

Hi James,

(We have never really communicated before so dont feel comfortable calling you Jimmy.)
Do I understand that you have sourced a front windscreen that has a heater element embedded in the glass ?

G'day Iain,
Yes mate, Ali has fitted a heated screen with an integral element and these are available here in GB. You can see the foil in some of the photos. It obviously negates the demister / heater plumbing and quite a few of the racing boys here with original cars are using them.
Contact Ali via the forum membership for details. (Alistair Nuttall)

re: Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars

The twins are reunited to get them both completed before Christmas.
Last month I got all of my original suspension and parts polished and re-plated. The Konis are overhauled and I purchased a radiator and two new racing exhausts. So things should be moving on my little chassis pretty quickly now.
We have also contacted a local fibreglass specialist to long board the body-shells.
Every picture tells a story and Scott is doing excellent work on the outfitting studying some 7000 pictures of original cars which I have accumulated through friends. Nice one guys !!

Cheers Steve,
If I can get this car anywhere close to yours, Jimbo's or JP's then I will be happy.

Steve C,
I finally got my butt in the saddle and raked out the Warning Plates for you and posted them today.
The photos show the gearbox and battery plates as fitted to P1008 (shown).
There are a few other types of label and plates throughout the car - more of this later.

I got some hardware back from the platers today and I'm very pleased with the results.
The chrome restoration work is excellent and the rest is clear zinc which will I am sure will dull down a bit.
Note the very early front anti-roll bar with the bearing housings pre-fitted. My plater did a great job cleaning these original bits with virtually no loss of original surface.
Not too long now.

Mr Mac, I have to ask this question. After noticing your notices and then seeing one of same on an SPF car in the USA, I must admit to being somewhat baffled, which is not hard as I am often baffled by my own reflection these days.

What exactly is meant by "Sequential Gearbox?"

I know what a sequential gearbox is and a motorcycle box is the purest form, but what puzzles me is how this relates to a GT40 exactly?

It doesn't relate. It's a different meaning of "sequential" as in "if you go out of order you will regret it" rather than the more common meaning: "we assume you want to change by one gear step at a time so therefore there is one motion for upshift and another for downshift"

Thanks for the reply. How very strange - never seen sight or sound of that explanation before, and how very limited in operation.

Picture me... puzzled.
