Le Mans 24h, Le Mans Classic, and other major events.

With Isis succeeding with their barbarous deeds in Paris last Friday , the French President has declared war on Isis, and consequently any major events may well be curtailed.
Imagine what Isis could do at 15:00 hrs on race day with probably 150,000 people in the start finish area. Probably a lot more than Mercedes did in 1955.
Just me thinking out loud but nevertheless, be aware.

How Perplexing. You won't be going anywhere if its cancelled. Nothing will put me off going anywhere, providing events are not cancelledYour words.
All I am saying is there is a possibility that there will be no police to man the event
and the security risks may become so high that the ACO will decline both events.
I hope not as its a good part of my income each year but the possibility exists and if you are making bookings , make sure they are able to be cancelled as well.

What the fuck am I dealing with and why did I bother. If its a Force Majeur and its scrubbed, you'll be sitting in a camp site all alone or with other similar tossers. Just carry on ........

Your question was about specific events, some of which I always attend. IF those particular things were to be cancelled, which I very much doubt anyway, then I , you and all others would not be going.

Bloody obvious ..... my words.

As regards everything else in life, it still goes on, and I for one am not going to stop living because of evil deeds.

Why so angry, why all tossers.

I thought the thread title said it all. Enough
I'm not the betting type though right now I think its about 9:1 in favour of not happening.
ps I'm not angry.

It will indeed be a shame if the events are cancelled. I have already booked accommodation for the Classic. If it is cancelled I will still go, but will have to spend more time looking around and at the Museum I guess.

Brian,
I am solidly behind you and 9174gt and hope it remains unaffected, but the realist in me
thinks it may well be. All their police are at breaking point in terms of manpower - much the same as in England. Police patrols here have been severely curtailed and the criteria in how any reported crime is dealt with has been totally revised because of the manpower problems. Its even worse in France and they are stretched to breaking point. Le Mans is very intensive on police manpower - both the 24hr and the Classic - and its only the regular people who go there every year are the people who the police rely on for their annual jolly in La Sarthe. I hope it doesn't happen and you have a great time but beware.

I think very much depends on the "answer" to last Friday's atrocity. If the West remains passive perhaps the threat will be lessened, but if there is a robust response (as I suspect there will be) then I imagine there will be a heightened proportionate risk of interruption.

Did you notice that only a few run towards the gunfire?
I hope they don't call off the race because I would like to see FORD show up this year.

As my French friends have pointed out to me, the French police have no manpower for things like fighting crime, much less terrorism, because they are all hiding in the bushes with radar guns and mugging passing motorists.

One must have one's priorities straight!!! :shout::shout::shout:
