Hi Steve;

I am on the search for body shops to complete the bodywork, door gaps, etc. and paint it. Then, for all practical purposes, I will be done. Although, with a project like this, I suppose we are never done :)

Best of luck! That engine is awesome. Although the list price I think is $6000 more than it was when I bought mine!

Mike not sure where you are located but if your close to Connecticut I would suggest talking to Allan Z who did my car he knows the in’s and out’s of these cars and how to make them turn out awesome just a suggestion.

Dang. It's been so long since I've posted that I couldn't find my thread! My car has been at the body shop for about 3 months now and is moving along nicely. I couldn't find a local reputable shop that had less than a six-month backlog, so here we are! Last time I was there, they were moving along. Here are a couple of photos, and a link to a YouTube intro video I made just before I drove it over to the shop. The shop is Blalock Customs in Marietta GA.

Fiberglass exterior door handle recesses. I am putting in the pushbutton door releases. As with Kurtiss, am using solenoid actuators (Electric-Life P/N 99003) , and original style pushbuttons (Dorman P/N 901-209). The switches barely fit in the recess, which barely fit on the door. The switches I believe are original style (and were for period Ford Taurus, Expedition, etc. rear trunk/hatch release). I'll get a photo of them installed when that happens.

It has been excruciating waiting on completion of the paint. Every week, it is a little farther along, but I never imagined it would be 8 months later and no car. The shop is working on it, and I can't complain, as they are doing a good job. I am trying hard to be very patient!

I have to ask since this seems to happen often. Are these cases always a shop taking on more projects than they can handle? It always seems like a Ponzi scheme, take many clients, take the money, and then work on each of them in increments slowly keeping each customer floating along.

Well, that could certainly be part of it. They've been around 30 years, so are honest, but they have way too many projects, and are having a rough time getting employees. The owner has also been dealing with some personal/health issues that has taken some of his time and attention.

Interesting, thanks for the insight. This seems to happen with body shops a lot I feel. Look great though!
