Pedal Assemblies

Time to select pedals........ It appears that my options are limited to either the Tilton or Wilwood firewall mount items. Other than about a 35~50 dollar difference in retail cost, does anyone have any comments on the attributes of either set? I have not seen either set in other than pictures and drawings and I'd like to hear from someone who may have handled both sets.

I am not using servos and intend to purchase the steel pedal set in either brand as I may have to put a "dogleg" in the clutch pedal in order to get around the steering shaft.

By the way, Tilton offers a service to help select master cylinder sizes on their home page, you load in two pages of data about your brakes system components, car weight distribution, tire diameter, etc and they get back to you with cylinder size recommendations, cool...

I installed the Tilton 3 pedal, 3 master cyl set up in my CAV, it is a high quality setup that fit into the very narrow (10") foot well. I am very happy with the result.

Brian,
Be advised the three pedal assembly from Tilton no longer comes in the gold anodized version now. It is a black anodized/podercoat finish and to me is a step backward. I wanted my assembly to "stand out". I will probably go with the aluminum two pedal floor mount and add an accelerator pedal.Check your space where they will be mounted. The three pedal would not fit in my car without some trim work. Would have to alter the center tunnel to fit.

I dont have my GT40 kit yet but I do have my pedals
sitting on the floor of the computer room (read storage room for GT40 parts).
I have bought a set of Wilwood floor mount pedals. They look like they will
perform the task they are made for but are not finished that well and are not really a
show peice if you know what I mean. The Wilwood pedals are coloured flat black.

Thanks guys, but as nice as the floor mounted items are, I can't use them in a GTD (that I know of). The footwell is all gobbed up with the frame, a cross member and the steering rack, there is the slightest possibility that I could use a floor mount, but I'd have to have the cylinders more than a foot away from the pedal pivot points out between the steering rack and radiator, way too much for me to deal with. So I am left with the hanging style.

Thanks Brett, but I'm about 6'1", so I have the factory extended footwell and require a Gurney Bubble to fit into the GT. So no floor mounts for me. I'm getting thinner, but I'll never get shorter...

Brett,
please don't talk about me so diparagingly. I only lost 1.5" (in height that is). But you should have seen the field I hit.....

I personally like the floor mounted pedals, but opted for the swing mount for the reasons you mentioned, space mostly. I also like the advantage of a higher pedal ratio on the swing mount which will give the same or more pressure with a larger master cylinder(s). Some of those floor mounted pedals have a short ratio necessitating smaller masters and longer pedal throw. I also am not using boosters, and have never had a stopping problem.
Cheers
