Pete's Pony car restoration.

Pete,
I love the early mustangs. It will give you many hours of enjoyment and will give you a return on your investment as well. Good show!

These are fun cars. As I mentioned on the other thread I have had several Mustangs over the years. I was building a Shelby GT350R Clone at one time. Unfortunately I was young and things came up and I sold the project. Looking forward to seeing your progress on this car.

Thanks.

The car was sand blasted back to bare metal and all rust cut out and repaired. Fortunately there was very little, some in the passengers foot well and as always under the battery box.
It then went to the engineer for conversion to RHD. The Queensland Motor Transport office are very strict on all modifications. Every thing has to be inspected and passed by an "Approved person" to ensure you can get the car back on the road. It adds time and cost but I can't argue against it, there are a lot of cowboys out there.
The motor went to the engine guy at the same time. All we are doing to the motor is a re-bore, new pistons. bearings, crank crack tested, a mild cam and extractors.
When the body shell came back it went into paint preparation; another dusty time consuming job. But if done right makes the paint.

Well done Pete, I had heard that you needed another car.....

Which car is making room for the fastback in the garage?

Cheers

Pete,
Looking good. I used to race a '65 mustang sedan in SCCA in what was then B Sedan class with very little mods to a stock car. New springs, good shocks, tires (the biggest that will fit..and they are not big by todays racer standards), stock tranny and engine with better flowing exhaust and that's about all. Of course, a roll cage and nets on the side windows for safety.
The point is, a stock mustang with simple upgrades that you will likely make anyway will make a comfortable and fast tourer with extremely good reliabilty. Great fun and with a cool factor that currrent cars just do not have. Don't be surprised if you get asked to participate in the local parades.

Interesting project Pete. At the start I was going to ask if you were considering RHD conversion, then you covered that.
The Mustang is a horse you can spend some money on, but it probably will be more predictable than your others.

Hi pete!

I'm selling all my inventory of mustang parts. I have several extras of everything for your car. I have had several K code fastbacks over the years. If you need something, please give me a PM.

Thanks John, I think I have everything I need, but if I discover I'm short of anything I send you a P.M.

The body shell is back from paint. Now all we have to do is put it all back together.

sweet color Pete. I love that color on Ford cars. Cobra's, GT40's, Mustangs, they all look bad ass.

Cheers

Great colour combo on the 'Stang, love the fastbacks. There is a 65 Coupe at my mother's place that I have to get around to restoring one of these days, already converted to RHD....
Is it going to be your daily driver Pete?

Yes it is Bill, that's why the GTP is up for sale, that and the fact I'm out of room. Which code is your coupe?

We do Mike, here is one I picked at random, I wonder why Ford don't sell them in The U.S.

Used FPV SUPER PURSUIT BF Mk II COBRA 2007 - Queensland - CarPoint Australia
Thank You for that link Pete! What a neat car. The ad says it is #85 of 100 made - I am sure that they could have sold another 1000 easily in the US.
I wonder what would be involved in importing such a car into California.
But the powers in charge would probably not let me because it would be too much fun - I mean threat to the environment - to let me have such a car on the road.....
