Rear splash panels

Have any of you guys hit on a design for the rear splash panels that you like?

My early attempts on it are failing miserably - because the lower beam is recessed inwards, it creates all sorts of funky bends/waves in the metal, and I just can't figure out my way around the issue. Hmmm.

I've done mine in aluminum secured with camlocs for easy removal. One panel over the area where the axles go through, and one right in front to cover the two different angled tubes coming from the top and bottom. I also have one mocked up to go in front of the rear wheel up to the bodywork but I may not complete that since Fran hinted that the Aussie RCR dealer (sorry, can't think of your name off the top of my head) should be producing a nice option soon. He has posted a pic of it somewhere on the forum. As I have it mocked up, it is supported on the bottom by a "tray" coming out from the bottom tube that will also secure the bottom forward edge of the bodywork. Again, all secured with camlocs.

Also, there are various plastics that may be worth trying that would eliminate the pinging sound you'd get from flying rocks and may easily conform to odd bends with a heat gun. With the seemingly unlimited choices of plastics though, I just do not know enough about them to make the best decision in this area.

I have extended the undertray to a point just ahead of the rear wheels. A partial vertical panel with a bulb seal along the top is planned. Inside the rear clip I intend to make a fiberglass panel that will close out the drive axles/suspension with a flanged part that closes on to the bulb seal. Simple!

A layer of "2mm coremat" glassed into the front fenders and wheel area's in the rear clip will protect from stones, crazing, etc. Coat this with a rubberized undercoating and all will be well.

I am doing something similar to Jack's. Aluminum floor pans are extended to near the rear tires. I have a set of styrofoam "molds" for the front of the rear wheel-wells and will try a carbon fiber over "lost foam" technique as my first attempt. I went over to Cam's and he is using aluminum sheeting in front of the rear wheels.
