Roaring Forties Vs. ERA

Planning to build GT 40 next. Need help in making choice between these two companies. Any insight will be helpful on pros and cons.

It depends what you want,RF is probably the best of the spaceframes and is therefore a less expensive option. An ERA being a semi- monocoque will give you a finished car much closer to the original - at a price.

Bill,
ERA is in your back yard so it wouldn't hurt to check them out. They do have a long waiting list. they also have a semi monocoque chassis if that's something you must have. I'm obviously biased as I own and built my Roaring Forties. I suggest visiting both companies web site and check out the prices and options you must have. then make a decision based on the options you want. Both cars look and feel right and I don't think you can do bad with either one. It's
just a matter of time and money.

Hersh,
Thanks for sound advice, I,m planing on going to Carlisle Kit Car Show next spring. Will compare both cars up close and have a list of questions. I,m already sold on Roaring Forties but want to keep an open mind towards E.R.A.
Regards, Bill Beardslee

Bill, if you are willing to spend the bucks for an ERA, why not contact Robert Logan or Gordon Levy and see what you can find out about the new monocoque that they are planning as a turn key. From what I saw it is to be very accuraate. Robert seemed very dedicated to this endeavor and I would expect nothing but the best.

The CAV monocoque is beautifully done, the RF is very well done and the last time I talked to Robert Logan, he was just getting the monocoque. The ERA is very nice and I saw their cars at this years Spring Fling.

Resale although we don't buy with this intention it will happen eventually. I'am on the wait list (almost 2yr) for an ERA GT40. With the long wait list it makes the car more valuable to someone who wants a car now. I purchased ERA because of quality and they are 20 minutes from my house. Quality was a big issue with a car this complicated.
