SPF MK1 rear brake failure

Hi all, I am not getting any brakes on the rear circuit. The car I recently bought has sat for 8 years with no use. I detect no leaks and I'm able to pump fresh fluid through the system. I am wondering if the master Cylinder has gone bad and if anyone has any tips on removing the pedal box/brake master in order to replace or any suggestions on where to look elsewhere to diagnose?

Thanks!

Gus,

Most likely a master failure. They are Wilwoods and I would do all of them while you are there. And also a good time to upgrade to stainless flex lines from the reservoirs.

To access the masters you must remove the front clip, the access panel on the top of the cowl and then unbolt the pedal frame assembly. There are four bolts on the top of the frame and two on the bottom. That will allow you to "duck walk" the frame forward and gain access to the masters. A shallow pan placed under the masters will reduce the amount of fluid you will spill all over the footwell.

I got REALLY good at doing this with my car when I replaced the masters.

Call me if you have questions.

haha, Thanks Mark, I had the whole thing opened up and it looked like either I had to be a contortionist or had to move the pedal assembly. I can do this without disconnecting the throttle cable it appears. Good idea on the reservoir line, seemed a bit cheesy with the rubber hose. Good to hear from you. Hope you're well. happy Holidays to you!

I followed Mike's same advice a couple of years back, and am glad I did. Much better to by-ass SPF's reservoirs and relocate them to where they are easier to monitor. I used a remote Tilton set-up.

Mark, Finally got myself to contortion and get the pedal box and master cylinders out. I read somewhere you have some kind of rubber kit for sale to seal air and water gaps. If you do, let me know. Thanks,
Gus
