Survey: Investing in your GT40

In reviewing the posts, it struck me that it would be of interest to determine what are the key investments, changes or upgrades that the members thought would add the greatest value to their investment. The value could be expressed in terms increasing car market value or making it more valuable to the current owner.

So the questions is:
What items if added/upgraded on your replica would provide the maximum return on your investment?

I wish someone had told me this was an investment /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

As far as personal value goes, all the above.

Well, professional panel fit would be best for resale,
closely followed by professional prep and paint.

A ZF might cost more and be more authentic, but I really
don;t see the resale being that much higher, especially
over a good G50.

As far as value to the owner, different strokes for different
folks.

I second Malcolms suggestions, and also Webers, period correct gauges/interior, and period correct wheel/tire packages. I like the original look, but I prefer much more performance and I don't require a duplicate chassis.

For those that really want to be close to an original, then one of the newer correct monocuque chassis out now from a couple of sources might be the way to go in order to build the car you want.

I'd say fuel injection. A stack system gives the great looks of the Webers with the efficiency and reliability of modern EFI technology.

I think he has fuel injection listed already.

For the moment on my 40, I'll take NoTech over MoTec /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

For mine, its the little details. Usually too many to mention and individually not valuable in themselves. The sort of things that I'm referring to are things like straight stitching, gauges that are properly spaced and aligned, colors that match correctly inside and out, the sound the door makes when it shuts, rattles (or lack of), hidden bolts inside the cabin, smooth operation of steering, pedals etc etc... I guess I'm just talking about quality in general.
