The perfect quote - political in nature

If you read the article, you'd realize the article is bemoaning the fact that Russia gets the downside of communism, like the rest of Eastern Europe, while the U.S. doesn't. I guess the only way to prove the left wrong is to go through the pain of experiencing it.

"Karl Marx was right, and communism just hasn't had a fair chance." My kid's high school history teacher.

You guys missed an historical moment!!!!!!!!

Lonesome Bob is quoting Pravda!!!!!!!!!!

Now- Pravda is not exactly an impeccably reliable source, is it? Bob, you've got to do better than quoting the Communists. Excuse me, ex-Communists.

Incidentally, if the former USSR is critical of Obama, doesn't that make your claim that Obama is a Socialist kind of full of hot air??? Maybe he's just a bad socialist, and that's why they are pissed with him.....

A friend of mine said this to me many years ago and it remains true today and I suspect will always do so.

There are only two reasons to vote for a politician - self interest or stupidity.

Take your pick........

Cheers
Mike

I fear your friend may be correct and I am stupid. Now get back in your garage and polish that beautiful car. Far healthier than hanging around here, I'll stay away if you do ;).

Jim,

Maybe he only reads the 5th column of Prada, perhaps he is just a fifth columnist reader.

Ok Tim,

When President Obama first won, some of his qualifications were: Graduated at the top of his class from Harvard Law, was head of the Harvard law review and had been a Senator for 12 years (both State and US).

When he ran the second time you can add to his resume Leader of the Free World and the Nobel Peace Prize.

Tim, why dont you tell us the qualifications you think should be required to be President?

Keep in mind that we will compare your required qualifications, to Reagan, BushII, Quail, Palin and Ryan.

Jim there is a grand difference between required and preferred. I don't think there should be a litmus test for election but I also believe, just as Randy indicated earlier, being the governor of a state is a far greater qualification that being head of the law review or a senator and I include John McCain in that statement. If you truly feel his Nobel was deserved based on the hope of what he could achieve then you and I will just have to agree to disagree. From my experience in higher education there were many (not all) professors that were in academia because they would have no hope of making a living in the outside world.

For what it's worth, I think Obama was embarrassed by the Nobel award and thought it should have gone to someone else. I agree. But I think he had no choice but to accept it. Not accepting it would have been worse. It's a shame he didn't have the choice to turn it down ahead of time and not embarrass anyone.

Sorry, meant to add, isn't it a bit gay of you guys reading about Mrs Prada's handbags?

No offence of course, whatever floats your respective boats...

Jimbo,

I also think President Obama was embrrassed, but then its not our call, perhaps being a Black leader of the free world was enough for the folks in Stockholm. Ironically, he probably would have won the prize for Iraq. I wonder if anyone has won it twice?

Cordel Hull
Woodrow Wilson

Oh Yea, and one conservative, Kissenger won the prize for losing Viet Nam.

Apparently unlike "Depraved" Liberals, "Selfish" Consevatives fail to impress the world.

Like the Pulitzer Prize for journalism, along with the Oscar and Emmy for film and television, the Nobel Peace Prize is an inside job in which liberal, wishful-thinking humanists give awards to each other.
Unfortunatly it has become meaningless apart from the money handed out.

Why would you think obama was embarrassed, it actually sounds like you were embarrassed for him....that's ok Jimbo it comes with the territory.

From my personal perspective I cannot see how it is that anybody that is a member of the military, actively instigates aggressive war, has been a member of a proscribed terrorist organisation, orders political assassinations from their armchairs or just a plain headline seeking political schmuck should be awarded with a prize for promoting 'world peace' sponsored by a man who's products directly or indirectly killed millions in violent explosion or could even be considered for such a self congratulatory, sycophantic & dubious award.

It only serves to taint the reputation of some very deserving past recipients.

However, that is from my personal perspective but I expect to be informed in short order just how wrong I am, ad infinitum ad nauseum.

By "wishful-thinking humanists", you mean people who actually care for others, right?

No I mean wishful-thinking humanists. Maybe I should have prefaced it with limp wristed.
The Nobel prize is no longer relevant and is demeaning and insulting to some great people who won it in the past. It lost all relevance when Nelson Mandela a terrorist was awarded the peace prize. What a joke.

Selfish people who only care about themselves, seldom win humanitarian awards. That's a fact Jack!
