When Hell freezes over!

I didnt see any pictures with the article but the russians have had advanced fighter tech before. We would be extremely naive to believe they couldnt do it again. Of course if the chants of usa usa get too loud then they would have to have the best wouldnt they.

Russia has proved before that they can manufacture cheap fighters that are very good and can be operated in the field with crude support services. They have some excellent engineers. The truth is that the real superiority is that the US fighter is stealth, and the russian's is not so much despite their hype. It is a very good aircraft from all reports however and in a dogfight over the middle east, it could prove superior. Anybody wonder why the Russkie's are snuggling up to Iran? They want to sell a few hundred of these to our enemies.
The Red Bear is trying for payback to the US any way it can.

Not much of a tail, is there?

Maybe one of the Russian "engineers" made the tail from a 1/32" scale drawing while the other guys were working from 1/24" blueprints?

The side on view belies the true extent of the tail. Because it's quite sharply slanted you can have a large surface area of tail without increasing the radar cross section of the aircraft.

The point that most people forget is that the capability of the airframe is usually immaterial, it's the capability of the pilot to use the airframe that dictates the kill ratio. And it is in this respect that western powers usually excel.

Given that the plane probably utilizes thrust vectored exhaust, I suspect the tail surface can be a lot smaller.
Is it me or does it look an awful lot like the F35?

Yes its terrible. As canadians we feel shame when the US space program as well as the fighter aircraft technology falls behind. After all we designed it all for you in the first place. Guess we will have to leave the igloos and bring you back up to speed again.

Yes it is scary refurbed F-18 Hornets to protect the North. I guess we will have to get the old BOMARC missles out of mothballs. We were told they were the way of the future. Not Super Sonic Intercepters with weapons pods and fly by wire. Dief was an idiot.

Guys
heads up for a 1hr program on Discovery Turbo called 'John Nicol Flies', he visits the test pilot school near Moscow, interviews with pilots and flights, visits MIG factory etc. Just caught it half way thru (UK) between 9 and 10pm. Looks interesting.
