Jim,

It's been a good 6 months since I last stepped foot in RBT. Recently on this board I believe I read something about RBT moving shop. Guess I'll find out one way or another because it's necessary for me to make a visit to see Lloyd about some parts (Ross if your listening!!). Next week looks good to me.

I'll be happy to inquire for you, why don't you pm me a list, part numbers may help.

Tim:

That would be great!

Unfortunately, I don't have a part number. I have attempted to find, on line, a parts listing or diagram, but without success.

The gasket is the one on the shifter shaft that goes from the small out outer box into the side of the transaxle.

Try one of these I got them from a pantera guy.

Just for all of you to know:
ZF in Germany themselves are currently setting up a special division for the technical support and parts supply for all their out-of-production gearboxes, be it for racing or street purposes.

Marcus

Jim, if its only a small gasket you are looking for, cut one out of gasket paper with a craft knife. If you cant find any gasket paper, take the old gasket to a spares place and find another larger gasket OEM gasket you can cut a new one from.

I have the gaskets for the zf on dxf file, I digitized them and made them for myself. I have a cnc laser that makes short work of making them. I can send you the dxf file and all you need is someone with a table top laser to cut them out for you. email me at [email protected] if your interested.

Here's the 'contact info' page from Lloyd's website, showing his new address:

RBT Transmissions

Don't bother sending an e-mail!

I dropped in on him a couple of weeks ago. He just bought a large building and is sub-letting the other half to another business. As a result he hasn't had the time to put up a big sign on the front, although there are ZF and RBT logos in the windows. I just waltzed in, and he was busy working on a guy's gearbox. I've been trying to get some hard-to-get parts for a couple of friends in Europe for several months; Lloyd had about half the parts they needed (each set aside in their own little boxes with their original order FAX sheets inside), but the other stuff is backordered to infinity.

(How can something be backordered when he's the guy manufacturing the stuff? Well, he has a partner named Oliver in Texas, and that's where all the bits are currently being made. But as quickly as parts are made, they are 'consumed' by being installed in new gearboxes, and Oliver apparently isn't very good about remembering to make a few extras of X, Y, Z to fulfill Lloyd's requests. Lloyd gets pretty steamed at the guy about it...)

If all you need are gaskets, however, all the Pantera vendors (or at least the ones that do ZF work) stock them. That kind of stuff is pretty easy to get. Pantera Performance Center, and Pantera Parts Connection both do ZF work; the others don't. Pantera Performance also has a pretty comprehensive parts inventory, so if you need something specific, like a particular gear or bearing or something, they can probably help out.

It's worth mentioning that Dennis Quella (Pantera Performance Center , CO)doesn't use paper gaskets in some locations (bottom cover is one) as they are notorious for leaking, he uses and recommends Yamabond on thsoe surfaces I believe.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've ordered up some gaskets from the "Pantera Store" at panterapartsusa.com. we'll see what shows up.

Some of the gaskets have to be soaked for 24 hrs and pre-swelled prior to installation or they will leak. If you don't get instructions with them from Steve Wilkinson (Pantera Parts USA) then give him a call to check.
