RCR's Next car should be.....

Have to say I really like the Birdcage myself...but how many would sell for street use vs development cost....thats the conundrum..

My favourite is still the Mazda Furai though....

Mine as well! The sound of the 3 Rotor engine and the look of that car... unbelievable:

I wish Mazda had made a limited run for a halo car for the company. Perhaps you may have to take the reins on that one Fran!

Its actually a full blown race car underneath the skin, a designer friends brother that worked at Swift Race Cars did some work on the car....bitchin shapes though...

Long time lurker here. For me, I would like to see something more basic and cost effective. A lot of the cars suggested here if produced by RCR would have limited appeal and very expensive to produce IMHO.
I would like to see something like the Scarab or Lister but keep it simple and cost effective. These cars are front engine so no expensive transaxle to deal with and no $2000 clutch assemblies and $800 starters. The Tremic transmissions are durable and cheap. The TKO600 will handle 600 foot pounds of torque which is more than 99% of the potential buyers would ever need. I don’t need billet suspension pieces. Use the C5 or C6 suspension including diff, brakes, and steering. These cars are plentiful as donors and a lot of the parts are available new, and rebuilt parts are cheap. Heck you can get a complete low mileage C5 or C6 roller complete with engine and trans for $8 to $10k on Ebay. Forget the expensive custom windshield. A Jaguar XJS windshield would look great on one of these cars or use a simple plexi windscreen. I bet a car built with these components would give you 99% of the performance of what’s currently offered by RCR at a fraction of the current cost to build and still look great.

Give me the RCR quality fiberglass and chassis at a price that’s more affordable and I think RCR will be looking for a bigger building to keep up with the huge surge in production.

Fran, if you build this car you can sign me up as the first buyer.

The 4c is nice... But I like the execution of the Artega GT better.

Whatever Fran builds next, it should be another addition to the Superlite Series. Just my opinion.

That's a really good point, and Fran's current lineup does not include any "conventional" f. engine r. drive cars (right?); there are certainly loads of gorgeous and siginficant vehicles in that configuration.

Fran mentions the Aston DBRs; but (at the risk of thinking too conventionally) let's not forget the obvious Ferrari GTO, TDF and Testa Rossa..... Those are perphaps the ultimate examples of "even if I had one I wouldn't drive it around". And they can be built using boring old tubes while reasonably authentic engines aren't too hard to find if you're willing to accept mid-cam intake like a 400i or FI like in a 456 or 550.

But to generalize and not get too stuck on F-cars: why are the Cobra and Cobra Daytona the only front-engine cars to get the serious kit/roller repllica "treatment"?

Oh, and by the way, I've always wanted one of these:

Fran,
Do a Lister Corvette but set up for the new C5+ transaxle. you could use the same chassis as for a Mustang GTP kit.
