Drawer organization-- custom wrench organizer with rare-earth magnets to hold the wrenches in place, organized with metric on top and standard on the bottom. Each size has an aluminum channel bent to size so the sizes don't slide away from their labels:

I agree with Randy about the Garage Journal. Lots of good ideas, and really nice garages of all kinds.

I agree with Randy about the Garage Journal. Lots of good ideas, and really nice garages of all kinds.
I regularly visit the garagejournal website and always come away utterly depressed with how poor my workshop facilities are. They're not actually that bad but 30 years of just adding shelves, a workbench and generally accumulating tools as I go, combined with a Morris Minor Traveller shell (and most of what was once its floor underneath it) has really made it look, well, kind of homely :stunned:
The bit that gets me is how surgically clean most of the garages are. Mine has a painted floor, ceiling and walls yet looks so damned grubby from all the welding and grinding that goes on in there - which if you have ever had a Morris Minor you'll know why. That's why I think it's a big conspiracy theory; these shiny garages have a hidden room at the rear where the real grubby stuff is done.

While I've not owned a Morris Minor, one of my best pals did.. Spent many hours wrenching on that wretched little car and ultimately turned it into quite the cream-puff.. But only after literally building a whole new chassis underneath it and rebuilding the engine and transmission.. Was quite a nice car, then it got T-boned by an old lady in a Buick in a parking lot.. Good thing my pal was not in it at the time. She had hit the gas instead of the brake and stuffed that little car so hard it had to be dragged onto a flatbed..
Back to shops and organization - you don't see me posting many pics of mine on here or on GJ. It looks like a bomb hit it most of the time. Lots of welding and other assorted work.
Now I have moved. My new shop is larger and most of my stuff has just been dumped in there and waiting for me to organize. While I would love to have a GarageMahal like many here and on GJ, I'm afraid I ight get it dirty if I worked it in..
So bottom line - if you ever come to visit me, be prepared to move a carburetor off of a stool so you'll have a place to sit to drink your beer...

Sorry to hear about your friend's Minor - being both small and a very old design they really don't stand up too well to a hefty shunt. Thank goodness he wasn't in it at the time. Still, fun to work on them and very easy to muck about with.
The really annoying thing Randy is that my other half has a fantastic, empty garage. It's just two years old and is crying out for converting into a lovely compact workshop with a tiled floor, fitted cupboards, rendered walls, white ceiling with tube light fittings, the works.
She won't let me do a thing to it though. She just parks her car in it. How inconsiderate is that, eh? :shifty: :laugh:

Funny how the subject changed (to Moris Minors), but I use Tengtools (they also do cabinets) as do some of my friends. I do know others use Snap On, not sure if they do cabinets.

Yes john Snap On do cabinets but you will need to bend over when you pay for them.
I use teng good tools, they are good.
Snap on is so over rated and over priced.

I had a stroke of luck a while ago and ended up with 25 lista cabinets for less that £1000. They were on the bay of thieves as "lister" and I was the only bidder. I have put them all around the workshop and bolted down a ply top with heavy duty lino stuck too it.Those roller drawers are good for about 100KG each and even with that in them you have to so careful not to slam them as the contents will shunt to the back.I highly recommend them., makes the best of snapon look like toy town.
