Can we borrow the USA death penalty?

When you consider that the gifted Alan Turing, to whom this nation owes much, had a choice between imprisonment or chemical castration just for admitting his homosexuality it is little wonder that he chose to commit suicide.

I have no words for monsters like Watkins. None.

I do not know what an appropriate punishment could be, and in any event I believe that any 'punishment' would be pointless.

I am not in favour of capital punishment generally, but would consider an exception in his particular case.

I would like to think he will be quite quickly 'sorted' when incarcerated.

I like the idea of reintroducing those hanging cage contraptions, that they used to employ a few centuries ago, outside the city gates or along major roads, to warn wrong-doers of the consequences of breaking the local laws. Stick a monster like Watkins in one of those and leave him to die a slow, painful and very public, death.

I hadn't heard of this fellow until it was posted here. His crimes are hideous. If UK prisons are anything like US ones, child abusers pay a very heavy price at the hands of fellow inmates. His personal hell may be just beginning.
What I also find tragic is that the police may have been ignoring warnings allowing him to continue to inflict his horrors on little ones.

I thought they did that for speeders these days.. :quirk:

I don't think it would deter people like Watkins though.

I can only speak for Oz but these days monsters like him are protected in prison 24/7 therebye using up even more tax payers money.

They could ask to extradite him here, but not likely to happen. Sexual predators don't usually fare well in prison here, but the UK government may refuse to extradite him if asked for that reason alone.

Disgusting bastard. And a damn shame the police ignored her all that time.

Actually, the Singaporean public flogging would be right on the money in this case. They limit it to six cane strokes.

Maybe six per day for a couple of years might be an appropriate amount of whup-ass. So to speak.

I like your style, Bob.

But, what say we lock him in a pen with 2 or 3 rabid pit bulls?

Or how about we take him out on an ocean beach somewhere at low tide and bury him up to his chin 6 to 10 feet seaward of the next 'high tide' mark?

There isn't a death gruesome or horrifying enough for that beast.

Even here in the U.S. we do not use capital punishment (death) to punish child molesters...we imprison them, and believe it or not they are entitled to protection from the very kind of predation they perpetrated on their victims. I know because I work for our state's prison system and frequently have to deal with "Offender Protection Investigation" issues...and those who prey on children are the most frequently preyed upon in the prison system. The inmates (whom we must now refer to as "offenders" in some sort of political correctness inspired effort to avoid offending them...WTF is up with that????) target child molesters and they frequently have to be moved to different prisons when other "offenders" find out what their crime was and commit the same kind of crimes on them.

There is no punishment, IMHO, that is appropriate. Death seems a bit too extreme, but other than that it seem too lenient to allow them to exist. There is a culture in the prison system, though, that seems to include prison officials and guards, which seems to turn a blind eye to the revenge the other "offenders" extract on those whom they identify as child molesters...may even encourage it at times.

There is no right answer, other than to find a way to identify those who might offend in this manner early in life and try to "program them".

Anyone remember "A Clockwork Orange"?????

Cheers!

Well they are "guests"three square meals a day colour T.V. Plenty of exercise,
Air conditioned comfort, gym facilities. Some live better on the inside than they could hope to on the outside. Certainly they are better treated and fed than many old age pensioners.:furious:

When I get old enough not to care, I've debated going California and give a selected nut-job lead poisoning. Free medical, big screen TV, 3 squares a day, conjugal visits, outdoor activities, etc.
Much cheaper than a rest home.
