Team QRP

I just want to thank Team QRP for the most awesome 18 hours of domination at Thunder Hill, You guys definitely made the history books in the RCR community and leading the race for 18 hours is a win in my book. I'm looking forward to next year and hopefully I hopefully next year I can be there in person.

Team QRP has done a remarkable job in fielding the SL-C. Most impressive, leading for 3/4 of the race by a good margin. Congratulations guy's, well done.

As so often in endurance racing, one relatively small part can end your race. Tough luck guys, but the real achievement is flying the flag of the SL-C with such aplomb in the face of ever more serious competition. Sounds like you had the team and tactics put together to maintain the dominance.

Shame about #18 too. Must be a bummer after all that development of the car.

Next year guys, next year.

We are still recovering from the weekend. I just mainly want to say thanks to our crew and team for building such a great car. Working together so seamlessly on pit stops and the drivers for taking care of the equipment. I pinch myself to remind it's not a dream. I was gutted when the rack failed but parts fail and it's part of the equation. I know if we'd had a spare they'd have fought to the end to get us back out.

I'm honored to lead such an impressive bunch.

We'll be back.....stay tuned.

Besides the high strung endurance needed of the car the real amazement to me is the human demands that this event takes -- from all. And - it was done in freezing/sub-freezing weather! Outstanding.

We had a great time at this years 25, the first year for our team.
The short story is we qualified 4th overall, let the first 3 laps, let the rabbits go, and focused on running our pace, & taking care of the car.
We ended up leading the most laps overall, completed 507 laps out of a total of 705, lead the race for something like 400 laps. Had a 5 lap lead on the eventual winning Audi, who we passed several times on track.

Want to thank all of our supporters that made this possible:
Fran hall, for building such an awesome component car, the best in the industry.
Hoosier Tire, we were beating up on the big teams on DOT tires!
Hawk brakes, Jongbloed Wheels, and all other supporters of our team.

Chris, Don, & I really want to thank the real heroes, our awesome crew that performed flawlessly, under tough conditions, having never worked together before. The best group of guys & gals you could ever want.

Thanks to our awesome drivers that drove their hearts out,
Mike Skeen, Darrell Anderson, Tim Bell, and of course, Chris Durbin.

Thanks for all of our forum friends that I know were rooting us on.
I think we left a pretty good mark on the race, we will go after them hard next year.

Thanks, Ted

A little more on the statistics from our pit notes..

We Led our class the first 70 laps of the race until out first pit.
Our penalty for passing under yellow on lap 124 cost us at least a lap.
We were back to first in class at lap 159
Back to overall lead at lap 163. (we never lost the overall lead after that point.)
We lost another lap at lap 414 when the aux tank ran dry and had a tough time restarting.
We completed 507 laps.
Out of the 507, we led 414 laps overall (81.6%) and 418 in class (82.4%)

An edit Ted. This is such a dramatic picture.

Did the organizers make you add the mirrors to supplement the cameras, or was it a belt-and-suspenders thing you decided to do?

If you did it on your own, was it because of a blooming problem running in the dark, or another reason?

Will, we checked with NASA before we built the car, Jerry said okay on the cameras.
SCCA tech never said anything, I don't know if they even noticed.
Some of the drivers wanted mirrors, some liked the cameras. Also gives a back-up system in case of failure. easy for mirror to get out of adjustment, camera or monitor could also fail.
Both systems worked okay.

Yes, they're all great photos Ted. I always think the angle in this particular photo shows off the beautiful lines of the SLC so well.

Sometimes I am so close to the cars all the time that I don't step back and look at them from afar...

I really enjoy seeing the car doing what I had always planned it would , being both a street and race car....

It really is a damn fine looking machine in either guise....but I may be just a little biased ....
