Went to a show that routinely sees 7,000+ cars and 250,000 people.

Full report coming. I came home and passed out for 4 hours.

I literally had to hide from the throngs of people wanting to talk to me.

700 (ohhps, check that. 7,000) cars? :stunned: That's a lotta cars

Well that sort of trumps Howard's (maybe 50 car) coming out get together *chuckle* and you 'got' to be a video star.

Looks like a good time, except maybe for the running and hiding part :)

Why are you looking at your hands?

Yep, 7,000 cars... It was hot as hell too, so standing near a hot car with no shade and just pavement wasn't my idea of fun.

I made a sign, but that didn't stop the questions.

I had people FB'ing, texting and emailing me all weekend to see when I was going to be so they could come see the car and ask me all sorts of questions. I even got stopped at the gas station for 30 minutes just answering questions... It really almost got to be too much.

The deal with the hands was that I was pulling the Ricky Bobby line from Talledega Nights, "i'm not sure what to do with my hands" ... I was doing this right as channel 9 news went live... Not telling me or giving me a count down, just straight up live television... and me acting like a jackass, so the reporter and I had to to pull a "what do i do with my hands?!!" Pose.

We all had a good laugh about it.

Ran the AutoX a few times, apparently half the crowd left as soon as much runs were over... that's how nuts this thing is. No one has seen or has ANY clue what this car is. I had lots of "Yep, that's definitely a (insert favorite hypercar name, Lotus, Koenigsegg, McLaren...etc...etc) _______ car". I even had one dude argue with me about what it was.

It really was quite insane.

The Hotchkis guys were pretty enamored as well. John Hotchkis chatted me up a bit, nice guy. I let their pro-driver take it for a spin on the track, pretty much confirming that the AutoX isn't quite it's specialty. However he did say, "get this thing on a big track and ALL these other cars need to get the FUCK out of the way!"... and that's exactly how he said it LOL.

I think there was vintage race at RA last weekend (?) A buddy just sent a picture of the "Rayovac" Indy car they ran there.

Looking good! Too bad you have to put a front plate on it.

Yes there was a vintage race going on and we always have a great time going to that.

Good jerb. You may have already mentioned this in the past, but what class were you competing?

"Exhibition". They wouldn't let me run in any class, said it was "unfair" to the other competitors. Whatever. Run whatcha brung, so sorry.

Either way, I had an issue with one of my wiring harnesses so I basically had to rewire it. I have 3; engine harness, body harness and gauge cluster harness. This gives me a good chance to lay some carpet and install some of those pieces. If anyone has any suggestions on getting the bulkhead piece to fit, let me know, it's not really wanting to cooperate.

Just FYI, if you are going to carpet your interior, you'll need at LEAST 2 bottles of 3M adhesive and from my estimation, about a 8'x6' piece of carpet of your choosing.

I willing be tracking this in late August at Road 'Merica so I had RCR send me a new rear engine cover, this time one I could cut up and BOOOYYYY howdy does it look sharp. There's nothing quite like having an expensive piece of carbon fiber in one hand and the massively-rotating-spinny-thing-cutter-of-death dremel in the other and making that first cut... It turned out pretty damn sexy lookin' if I do say so myself. *breathes heavily on finger nails and wipes them gently on lapel*

The next piece in the transformation is naturally.... Stickers. Yep, no flashy self respecting race-car out there would be caught dead on the street or track without it's own livery.

It's kind of weird, but my last car looked weird with stickers, this one... looks down right naked WITHOUT them. Once the stickers went on the and the CF rear engine cover went on, this thing is looking really friggin' hot!

The little lady even commented that the car looks 'complete' now that the car has some sort of livery to it. I guess supercars just need to advertise that they are indeed super. HA!!

That looks great Eric!
did you get the stickers/livery from Fran?

Fran, why don't we know about all these little extras like the carbon rear engine cover? you need a sticky thread with all these items you have available. You know how a love to procrastinate over buying extra goodies!

No joke, the rear cover weighs maaaaybe 12 ounces... it's CRAZY light, especially with all the "speed holes" i made for it. LOLz.

I had the stickers made from a local company, "Twin Cities Vinyl". My hope is that it will cut down on the "WHAT KIND OF CAR IS THAT" line of questioning.

The up-side to all this is that at least I won’t get the “Hey! my dad’s brother’s cousins in-law on my common-law side of the family once shared a microwave with some random guy at his college dorm, had one just like this when they were younger!” comments. HA!

Did you see Fran's "other" carbon rear window vents? They're meant to be inserted into the plexiglas window. I was planning on doing what you did, then I saw these in prototype form and my heart melted. Then I recently heard the retail price and my wallet melted. Now I'm on the fence. So that decision can wait...

I agree with you how the car benefits from visual enhancement. I don't know that "stickers " is the same word I would use, but definitely a color scheme, theme, highlights or SOMETHING.

A.J.
