Most exciting thing about the race last night (apart from Webber creaming the field - for us Aussies!) was when Hamilton put it in the fence and Red Bull were telling Vettel "critical brakes - critical brakes" but he kept pushing.....

Although a bit of a procession up front I thought it was an exciting race,
with a lot going on throughout. Exciting enough to keep me up till midnight, unheard of these days.
Hamilton must have been gutted, he must have picked up some debris. I've never heard of a tire exploding like that because of wear. Even though Hamilton is notoriously hard on them.

Hamilton must have been gutted, he must have picked up some debris. I've never heard of a tire exploding like that because of wear. Even though Hamilton is notoriously hard on them.

If Vettel came in for a tire change because of feeling something weird in the front end and what he felt was ultimately the brakes, he lost the opportunity of coming in 2nd putting Alonso in 3rd if he had stayed out.
I think that Vettel is a great driver and has a great attitude. Too bad he has had so much problem this year with the car failures.

Regarding the Ferrari/Marlboro bar code... I think it has been a very clever marketing campaign for the Ferrari sponsor.
Did anyone know these days (apart from the real connoisseurs) that those bars on the top of the fin of the red cars have to do with Marlboro?
I think most people (for sure the young ones) did not know what the bar code on the fin means, so I think it has been a brilliant and cheap campaign to let the world know who is one of the main (if not the most important) Ferrari sponsor.

Pete, the Red Bulls have been fast all year. It is interesting that they are so fast with out the new F duct. In monoco, if they get pole, I think they should do very well as it apears that this track does not support the F duct. Assuming that there is no kind of break down.

“It’s a special day, the greatest day of my life I suppose. As a Formula One driver you really hope that you win races and if you have a choice then the blue riband event is very, very special for any driver. To join Ayrton Senna and the likes round here is a very special thing. The last few laps are intense. Jenson actually said to me on the parade lap that when you’re leading with a few laps to go, it looks like the track’s narrowing and the barriers are coming closer and closer. Fifteen laps from the end, that’s just what it was like. A one-two finish for the team here is such a feather in their cap, it’s incredible. The safety cars weren’t a great situation to have - you do all the hard work, get away and risk some pretty quick lap times to increase the gap and then you have a safety car which neutralises it and all the fast guys are back on your wheel again. It’s very difficult when it’s like that, but that’s part of the driver’s role - to stay composed and get the job done. To get 50 points from the last two races is awesome, but there is a long, long way still to go. We’ve got so many different conditions and tracks coming up - there are many exciting times to come; I’m looking forward to it.”

Mercedes GP’s Michael Schumacher has been penalised by the Monte Carlo race stewards for his overtaking manoeuvre on Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso in the dying moments of the Monaco Grand Prix.
Schumacher was handed a drive-through penalty, which is converted after the race into a 20-second time penalty, dropping him from sixth to 12th in the results.
Schumacher passed Alonso just as the safety car pulled in at the end of Lap 78. The FIA stewards, which included his old sparring partner Damon Hill, have deemed the German breached Article 40.13 of the Sporting Regulations, which states that “if the race ends whilst the safety car is deployed it will enter the pit lane at the end of the last lap and the cars will take the chequered flag as normal without overtaking."
Mercedes will appeal the stewards' decision and a date for that appeal will be set in due course by the FIA. Schumacher’s demotion moves Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Buemi, who had finished in 11th, into the points in tenth place.

"With regard to the penalty given to Michael, we believed that the track had gone green and the race was not finishing under a safety car when article 40.13 clearly would have applied. The reason for the safety car had been removed, the FIA had announced 'Safety Car in this lap' early on lap 78 and the track had been declared clear by race control. This was further endorsed when the marshals showed green flags and lights after safety car line one. On previous occasions when it has been necessary to complete a race under a safety car, full course yellows are maintained, as in Melbourne 2009. On the last lap, we therefore advised our drivers that they should race to the line and Michael made his move on Fernando for sixth place. We have appealed the decision of the stewards."
I think he has a valid argument.
