GT40 & Ford GT

I have a CAV GT40 which is a great car and I am still making modifications, incl a larger engine (427 EFI).

I received my Ford GT (see "Birth" thread) and I think Ford did a great job in making it so close to the original. It is a Supercar, nothing else describes it. I recently had it at Walnut Creek Ford (CA)where the Ford specialist supervised the installation of superb new control arms and did a full pre-delivery checkup. Walnut Creek Ford and Ford know exactly how to treat an owner a "Supercar". They also fitted a plate-cam for me, so I can view behind when in reverse. That is a great asset, and I am fitting one to my GT40. The Ford GT is docile on the road or in heavy traffic, yet instantly can become a race car. Its a thrill and it hugs the corners. The car is everything claimed.

Do us a favor if you get a chance, when they are side by side, take a pic that shows the size comparison. I'm really curious and haven't seen a good pic of that.

Wow, congrats on having the means (and the appropriate taste) to have such beautiful examples in your stable!

One question though,,,,,,,
how on earth do you decide which one to drive???????

Hej John,
Wich one is better in your opinion?U are one of the few lucky with the 2 ones...i am just curious to know wich one is better for u (overall..in look, driving, sensations.....everything).

Thx
Paul

In reference to Alain's question. I can fix that little problems for you. You can let ME pick one to drive, and YOU can have what's left on any given day. Now THATS a deal I don't think you should pass up. Ha Ha.

Unfortunately I don't own a new Ford GT. However Alan and I had the pleasure of running at SAAC 9 in our CAV and GTD along with the Super Bowl 04 Red GT and it was great. The GT hauled, even in the rain. It is not a production unit and has had some extensive track time and tuning, probably by the Shelby group.

Stike2 great choice of cars and congrats to you to own both. Now all you need is a Superformance cobra to finish off the livery.
Kalun I understand the new GT to be 10% bigger. Hence my GT44 monicker. Strike2 can tell us exactly when he goes out to measure as he spends hours looking at,sitting in, and most of all driving these babies. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

And BEST OF ALL, he is an easy going guy with no "Pompus Ass" attitude. His user name should now be Strike3 (2GTs and Cobra) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Life must be terribly droll for people who don't have to make choices.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

John, really, I'm not jealous. Not at all. Really. I'm not. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Guys

You are great and I appreciate all the comments.

I intend to get them side by side, fronts and rears, when my GT40 is complete from the engine change.
Just not sure which is better - I think they are both great fun. The Ford GT is refined and quiet, while the GT40 is more difficult to get in, louder but performs great.
I started with an SPF Cobra, which I would not part with and its in the blood with all of us.
I decided mid last year that there had to be way to get a Ford GT and I had to have it. That's about the long and short of it. It will be at Club Cobra breakfast at Athens Saturday.

I shall move my Lazy A$$ and be at the Athens burger, even though it is a very very long ride (About 3 miles from my house). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Faili and Howard;

Good that I got an idea to get you both out to the breakfast. Apparently rains should be over tonight.
Look forward to meeting.
