Has anyone put a hemi in a gt40

Hi Mick,
My neighbour is a mad Hemi fan. Anyone with a stroked 440 (god knows what size it is) in a CL valiant ute is crazy.
He keeps bugging me to put a hemi in my RF........
I think I will go for a Boss or Dart Windsor, as they should have a Ford donk.
Regards, Gus.

Does anyone know if a hemi has been put in to a gt40?

Ford 4.6 DOHC is a hemispherical chamber design and there are a couple in Australia. If you meant Hemi as in Chrysler which I'm sure you did, and I was just being smart, then I don't know but why would you want to?

Gusmo, when I went to school a Hemi was 426 CI and a 440 was a, er 440 mate. :)

Anyway - keep it original I say - put in a Boss 429 Ford (Hemi)

Keith,
I should have said Chrysler, Dodge or anything mopar........ didn't say a 440 was a hemi, but it does seem I insinuated it was......doh
Cheers, Gus.

'Just curious...assuming you're referring to a REAL Hemi (as in '60s 426 Hemis) why would one want to do that when there are big weight/c.g./handling/suspension overload, and, in some cases, h.p. disadvantages in doing so relative to so many other options?

'NOT criticizing...just asking...assuming you're still around 3+ years after posing the question.

Moved to the engine subforum.

If it's a "Hemi" in a GT40 it should be the cammer or the Boss 429. Kaase Boss engines can be had new.

Ron:
Lee Holman had shared with me a few years ago that a Boss 429 had been fitted to a Gt40. When the car was run at Elkhart Lake it would spin the tires like crazy on the back straight. Sounded like it was removed after that. He also told me that the Holman Moody engine Dyno at the time would not hold the power the 429 would make. We got on the conversation because he had a Boss 429 in the shop he was working on and I had never saw the engine in real life.
