Hostages in Australia

Breaking news here that 40 people are being held in a coffee house in Sydney CBD

I hope this is not too close to home to any of our Australian friends, and our prayers are with the people caught up in this hostage situation

Sorry, I'm not being clear. He looks like someone's grandpa... He's far too old for virgins. I wonder what his game is?

I'm assuming you're referring to the puke responsible for this? So far, we've (I've) seen no photos/vids over here that actually show the yo-yo.

My guess is a sniper's bullet will end this...the perp's claims of having planted bombs here and there be darned.

'Prayers for all caught up in this...

From at least one picture I saw, looking through the window, the suspect appears to be a giant Teddy Bear.

He can clearly be seen, standing behind some old guy with a beard.

One moronic TV News Reader suggested the Negotiators' tactic is it to tire the suspect out over time, whilst his blood sugar levels drop as he becomes more and more tired through the night.

Clearly this idiot failed to notice the guy is held up in a chocolate shop that also sells coffee!

Typical moronic response. I understand this guy has some "history" too. Well known to the police. Take him out NOW!

I noticed that too Mark. Well, he's dead now and good riddance. One other died at scene, hope it wasn't hostage.....:uneasy:

This guy was a piece of work. How many sexual assault charges? Also on bail for attempted murder (murder?) of his wife...

Brilliant responses from Sydney residents re: Muslim community...

Two hostages dead as well as the terrorist. Allegedly one of the hostages was not shot but had a heart attack. The terrorist shot one hostage at that time police entered and shot the self styled Sheik. One policeman was hit in the face by shrapnel but is o.k.
The arsehole was on bail for attempted murder, I hope the Judge who allowed bail is feeling really good today.

The 2 threads on this subject should be combined...

Soooooooooo...I wonder how long it will be before the people "down under" start telling "the powers that be" that it's long past time law-abiding people be allowed to own and CARRY arms and demand that they get off their 'p.c.', anti-gun butts and see to it?

Think about it. If only ONE law-abiding person in that shop had been packing a gun, perhaps only the PUKE would have died.

Regardless of one's position on firearms and the right to carry, THERE'S NO DENYING THAT, WHEN PUSH CAME TO SHOVE - AND IT DID IN THIS CASE - IT WAS A "GOOD GUY" WITH A GUN WHO PUT THE "BAD GUY" WITH A GUN DOWN...just as is often the case. Surprise, SURPRISE.

All the p.c. protocols...the "talking"...the "negotiating"...the "waiting the perp out", and all the rest of the "Doctor Spock", "non-violent", "non-lethal", "mind game" tactics proved totally u-s-e-l-e-s-s. (Again:
SURPRISE, SURPRISE.)

'Rant over...

I won't rant, but I really want to!
From what I understand, the Aussie SAS did the required deed and not the local SWAT.

Absolutely no mention of the SAS here Jack my understanding it was totally a police operation. As well as the hostages killed one woman has a gsw to the foot and another has a gsw to the leg, both are stable and remain in hospital. The cop who was hit by shrapnel has been discharged from hospital. Apparently the heart attack story was not true and both hostages were shot by the gunman.
Update it has just been reported that another women received a gsw to the shoulder.

There was one report of it here Pete. Thanks for the update with some info that we have not received yet. Terribly tragic. I feel for you guys with the gun ban too.

On bail for attempted murder and with access to firearms ! I think there are a few stralian JP`s with some serious questions to answer.
