Jimmymac & Alistair's Monocoque Cars

re: Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars

I kind of like "out of the box" colour schemes ( who would have guessed that !)

but admit it would look dramatic and purposefull and thats what the GT40 is about.

You just have to handpaint an routinly updated count list on the side:

Ferraris X II
Porsche X III
Lambo XX
Riceburners XXX

re: Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars

Tom,
The first time that I sat in P1008, my car had to be Linden Green.
Since then, I got the original paint codes for LG and my friend painted his SPF with it. It was probably the first replica to be done so and it's tint matches some original paint which I got later. So that's out.

I will use GB garage lacquer colours from 1964-66 using swatch cards from Du Pont, Glasurit and Valentines.
Fiat paint codes were fairly modest during the day and Porsche colours were even austere by today's fashion palate.

Hormonal colours are not for me so hopefully the car will make it's own statement.
- and it must be British.

James,

That is just DISGUSTING!!!!

To repent, you need to box it all up and send to me. I will then issue a Papal Bull forgiving your avarice!

I had boxes of the C6AZ lights used for the roundel lamps. Used to get at least $6.00 for them.......

Frank,
I don't want it to look like a kilt car !

I always thought I liked the Linden Green, but I've never seen one in person. Why did you not like the Linden Green?

Rick,
I know, mea culpa, mea culpa. :greedy::greedy:

But it's like buying Christmas lights - over the years, you always forget what you already have and end up needing a bigger house.

Jim,
I love the simple Linden Green livery but my mate did it first.

Correct answer, Linden green is the best colour that's why I am painting mine the same colour :). David Forsbrey's Gelscoe car is stunning and just looks so right in Linden green. Just a nice period colour that's a little different.

re: Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars

Trevor,
Here is a link to a well finished car in LG.
Best correct SPF out there in my opinion.

Thanks James, I already have the pictures of that particular car saved on my computer hardrive along with another 150+ images of other Linden green GT40s (you can never have too much inspiration). Actually saw Linden Green Gelscoe car today in a race at Silverstone with 3 other GT40s, easily the nicest looking.

Cockpit courtesy lights - not many of these about these days

Not surprised there aren't many around, seems you've got all the spare original parts James :). Can you tell me who originally made these and a part number if you have one?

Thanks

The old 1966 Konis came back from restoration this morning as good as new.

Jimmy, how on earth can you now drink tea and walk to work with no arms and only one leg? :worried:

Oh you hard man . This I must see but I would guess the refurbish of the Konis to that amazing standard probably cost more than new items, hence my rather bizarre comment.

Keith,
You are right, but the new ones are different and I promised myself that I would restore them.
