MDA GT40 Rebuild.

Some slow progress!

I am after a set of 15” wheels for my GT. Happy to either buy or swap for my 17”

I am not fussed about tires as I have my heart set of a certain brand/style. Anyone out there with any options?

The spider was not in the best condition. There were a few stress cracks and once again many unnecessary holes scattered over it. Either the entire car had worms or the previous owner was trigger happy!

After a grind down, I removed the section of flat where the filler caps were located and then filed all the holes. 3 coats of 1.5oz matting and she’s looking better than new. I will flow coat the top and prepare for paint.

Blimey, Jack....you don't do things by halves, do you? Really enjoying your rebuild, and thanks for sharing the gory details.

Thanks Eddy.
It’s all new to me. I’ve never restored or rebuilt a car. Although I have built many bikes in the past (currently building a stage 3 supercharged Nightrod with one off spoked runs and air bag) I have never done anything more than a few mods on brand new cars. Just finished one of my sunny weather toys - 740hp RENNtech tuned AMG GTC with a few cosmetic upgrades.

The GTC is probably the best car I have ever driven. Ive owned a few 911 GT3's and obviously driven many full spec GT3 cars including the Lamborghini Huracan GT3, Porsche GT3R, Mercedes SLS GT3 and AMG GT3 plus a few others and Mercedes really have done it right. Their road "supercars" and track spec GT3 cars really are a cut above the rest.

But can I have a go ;)

Hi Jack,
Not generally into bikes, but that thing is the muts nuts......
Regards,
Andy

Cheers Andy. See I’m very into bikes, however certainly not off the shelf unless special. I have a Ducati V4R which is basically a short stroke Moto GP bike for the street. Also built a fully race tuned Sportster that has the same wheels as the Nightrod, plus a BMW R100 that I dragged out of a bush. It was a ironically Guernsey Police Bike in the 1980s. Now looks very different.

I can see a pattern emerging....I'm really into bikes; here's my 916, one-owner-from-new (me) during the recent rebuild I did:-

And...parked-up at work after a sunny ride in.

Apologies for cluttering up your build thread with bikes!
