Thanks!I like what I see... very nice...
Just read all your thread and that is some damn good work you've done there! Am loving the panelling you've done. I may have swaged the sills on the top because i think it looks awesome but wow how much better it all looks. Seriously love that front section, this has all given me ideas for when i start my build.
Im surprised living on Guernsey that you're going to be able to actually stretch the legs of this or the GTC that you have haha. Seriously jealous of your workshop space, how id love to have something like that!
Looking forward to seeing your progress!
p.s. those arches look huge! are they regular Gulf arches?? Who did you get them from?
You have done some great work on this project, very impressive. Are you considering changing the engine cover latches to something period correct ?
Looking forward to seeing the finished car, which with your rate of progress wont be long !
Regards Steve
Hi Chris
Thank you for your kind words. For me personally the panelling on these cars is one of the most important bits and can help to add so much character. I originally made sills with swage lines in them but when i stood on them and put them through a bit of a "Duration Test" they struggled with holding goos shape. I have made some separate panels with swage lines in that i may sit on top as a replaceable "wear" panel. The front wheel well section on the GT40 is one of my favourite bits on the car so it wasn't a question of if I was going to add it in but more so how was I going to achieve that.
Being on Guernsey it is a struggle to give the cars what they deserve, however I do spend a bit of time on the mainland during the racing season so the GTC does get away occasionally. I plan to do some events in the GT40 if I am able to. I just need to find out how I can adapt my cage to suit regs and what events I’ll be eligible to compete in.
The arches are based in the original Gulf arches, they are built by the guy who does all of Mark Sibleys glass work. They make the car exactly 2000mm wide. Still 20mm less than my GTC!
Thanks again for the kind words.
