Thought I would update after getting my car back from paint at Metal Morphous. Thanks Ron and Pedro for a great job! Still have a lot of the little details to finish up so should keep me busy for a while. Hopefully I will be on the road by springtime

I figured I would post a little adjustment I made on the dash today. I remembered reading a post on threading a couple of bolts into the chassis under the dash to raise it up to meet the spider supporting the windshield. There was a good size gap there. Not sure if you can see the difference in the photos but it looks much better now sitting flush with the spider. For guys building the GT40 if you plan on this make sure you do it prior to installing the dash...I didn't remember about it until after the dash was installed. All though it was not that bad I only banged my head 3 or 4 times and I didn't need any stitches lol.

I could only attach one photo. For some reason I cannot seem to attach any photos..keeps telling me the attachment is too large for the server. I never had this issue before...anyone else having this issue?

Not sure where I got this seal from I think it was some household item I had laying around..I think it may have come from Home Depot or Lowes.
For some reason I had a slight uneven gap there and did not like the way it looked so I used that seal for a better finished look. It really should have been laying flat with no gap so yours may be ok and you should not need it.

Since my body and chassis are at the bodyshop I started work on my dash. Started by making the aluminum switch plates which where kind of a pita. I made a template then ordered the aluminum pieces (0.63) online which I had cut to size. I used a cheap 18" bench top brake to make the bends then powder coated them in krinkle black.
I painted the dash with ALSA Soft Paint. This paint as the name implies is soft to touch and looks a little like leather when applied over krinkle paint. I used Black Krinkle for the base coat then applied the Soft Touch which is clear for the top coat. I thought it came out nice and I am happy with how it looks. I am not sure how durable the Soft Paint is so I guess only time will tell.

Here you go. CVF substitute the double pulley for a single.

Hi Phil
I happened upon your build. Very impressive. I just received my engine and Quaife gearbox. Could you forward the message you sent Nick concerning the shifter issues? Thank u.

Phil, I have learned a lot reading through your build. I too am planning on a Prestige crate motor (347 with a four barrel, but hope to install an eight stack later), a CVF front assembly, and a Quaife mated via a Safir clutch package. If you could share more information about how you brought it all together, especially the Quaife, I would very much appreciate it. Your car looks fabulous. Cheers, Randy

Starting off with a 4-bbl is a wise decision. A 650 cfm vacuum secondary carb should give you reasonable performance without a lot of headaches.

I decided to start with something doable on the first attempt. Prestige recommended a 650 based on the cam. I figure that the car will always be a work in progress and upgrades are just part of the fun. I chose a Hot Rod motor with the milder cam. I was told by someone that has a Weber 8-pack, that the milder cam will play better with the Weber 8-pack.
