Switch options for RCR40

Where is everyone sourcing their switches from? I saw these on Phil's Build Page and they certainly look the part. What I wasn't sure was if these were "real" Lucas switches or a modern copy/version that just looks like them? Seems SPF comes with them too, right?

They also do the wiper motors and boxes……tell them for a GT40 and they do it with the correctsweep

Unfortunately, I have this type on my car and the quality is bad, the lever has lateral play and comparing switch to switch they are not aligned with the plastic cover mounted on the lever.

The métallic cover is not properly bended and also not giving a quality image.

On the following one I had the axis of the lever that brakes and I only use the car for a few hours...

And on the type with a led, the led died after a few hours.

I am thinking to replace all the switches for more reliable ones, even if the look is different, but everywhere I am looking they sale the same kind.

Sorry for the recommendation, I built my car in the UK 2004/5/6 and the switches I got from S-V-C worked well for the 15 plus years I owned and drove the car

Hi, do you have these SVC switches specifically, or Lucas, or something else that just looks like these? Just want to be sure I know which ones you are referring to.

Kevin, I cannot tell you from where they are coming, the car was assemble by the previous owner in 2012 and stored 12 years after.

SPF uses Lucas brand switches. SPB200, SPB204 and 31788 for the headlights. They have a nice feel to them.

I used Cutler-Hammer aircraft like attached. There are many versions, somewhat costly but robust to say the least.

E Bay U.K. ( eBay.co.U.K.) has a number of switches for sale with Lucas packaging so I would presume new old stock.
If not try a car breaker yard for original British Leyland Mini, Landrover or Jaguar.

If you can find them, vintage 1960's Lucas switches are of better quality than any of their successors.
They have a stiffer contact engagement (which you can tell by the "click") and better chrome plating.
This is a NOS set produced in 1964.

Switches are routinely mis-applied in automotive home builts. Switch contact material determines where they are appropriate. High current DC power switches require solid silver contacts with an appropriate voltage rating. AC power switches need smaller silver contacts because the contact erosion evens out by the alternating current polarity. Gold-flashed contacts will be soon destroyed if used in high current applications. In my opinion, the really good toggle switches are made by Cutler-Hammer or Carling.
