Tornado in Vermont

Trev, Tom is right on! The last part of your build will seem like forever. Details, details, details. Pay attention and whip them out one at a time, no shortcuts and you will be exceedingly pleased with the outcome.

Thanks guys, I'll definitely try and make a list of jobs and that way just try and tick off a couple of things everyday. Apologies Bill we seem to have hijacked your thread.

Didn't get as much garage time as I was anticipating with beautiful weekend weather. The bike and coupe were wanting to play. Here's the weekends work.
While I'm working on getting more of the alu' panels fit I've found it to be a good time to fit other parts as well. I'm sure that the water pipes as well as the pedal unit fit as well. I want to be sure that all will fit when required. Build twice finish once.

I took a break from doing all panel work to fit the radiator, get the water pipes fit as well as cutting the cover for the steering rack access hole. The radiator was straight forward with attention spent to the height of the inlet and outlet on the bottom. getting the water pipes to fit took some effort and "tweaking". In order to be sure the pipes were in the correct location,I also fit the rear pipe support. When all was in place I made a templet for the cover, cut it, drilled the holes ,installed the rivnuts in the main panel, made sure all the screws fit and called it quits.
That's all for this weekend. There's a steak dinner waiting to be cooked and eaten.
Bill

Hey Bill, great looking job you're doing. keep it up. By the way, are you building a right hand car, or I am mistaken?

Victor, you have a good eye.In building a replica I wanted to get as much of the feel of the real thing and right hand drive is the way they were.I restore vintage Rolls Royce and Bentley cars and have been driving right hand cars here in the states for ears and have no problems with it. Thanks for the kind words on the GT work.
Bill

This weekends work proved to be slow but still moved forward.I spent time getting those panels that have been cut, final fit and drilled for rivets.I drilled the mounting holes for both the fuel pumps and the bulk head fittings for the fuel lines in the right side or off side rear sill panel. I then made sure things would fit.
I then final fit and drilled for rivets the front center panels and mounted the pedal assembly. All fit well and now are ready for final assembly after fitting of the brake servos and drilling a few more holes. Then started on the panles for the wheel arches. I can't wait to get all of the panel work done, maybe by the end of the week.

Hi Bill
I love the determination your making good progress:thumbsup:
I'm enjoying the accuracy in your build. Keep up the good work

I spent time on Monday night and got both brake servos mounted. After a few questions to Scott Calabro and Andy at Tornado about position I went ahead and got them fit.I,m also working on the patterns for the wheel arches.
Still having fun,
Bill

Last weekend here in Vermont was a beautiful weekend that brought both the Harley out for a ride as well as the Daytona coupe.I was still able to get some work done on the GT after the garden work was done.
I've got all of the right side wheel arch panels cut, bent and fit.It took more time than I thought.Sheet metal work is not my thing.I now have the left side done as well.
I took the wheels and tires to my local tire shop for mounting and balancing.Should pick them up Thursday.
Woke up this morning to 16" of heavy wet snow.Trees and power lines down all over.Spring time in northern Vermont,70's this weekend. Work goes on.

Oh well no more gardening for a while Bill, more time for the build.

I couldn't handle the cold you guys get over there,In Sydney winter is 13 to 16deg C

Jim

I now have all front panels and wheel arch panels fit and drilled.they will now be removed, deburred and taken to the powder coater to be done in satin black.I've got all the alu' suspention parts back.I sent them out and had them done with a natural anodized hard coat.I think they look great and they will not be bothered by the Vermont weather as this is a driver not a trailer queen.
Also here are the wheels and tires.Wheels are 17x8 front and 17x10 rear with 235-45 front and 265-40 rear Dunlop sport Z1's.

My lady went out dancing tonight so I was busy in the garage.I'd picked up the alu' panels from the powder coater today so I came home and got them final fit.I had them done in a satin black that has a texture to it.I've used the same finish on some panels on my Daytona coupe with good results.I've got both wheel arches riveted, and will have the front panlel done Sat.

Bill, I am glad your ahead of me on your build because I didn't think the panels would look that good powder coated but they are stunning. I guess the best thing about it is no polishing either.

You've really got me thinking about doing mine now

Trev

I didn't want to polish.Iwant to drive.not clean. I have the same thing done on the Daytona and it has held up very well,no chips after 3500 miles.Polished alu'here in northern Vermont would be tough to keep nice.
Bill

I managed to get the remaining front panles fit and riveted in place today.I am glad to have the panel work done.I did have a fight with my air powered rivet gun that slowed me down but I got it done.I hope to fit front end pices in the AM.We'll see,"It's a fine line between Saturday night and Sunday morning".
Bill
